You play to win the game.

A Tennessee Democratic lawmaker is calling for election officials to resolve complaints that voting machines are defaulting to candidates they didn’t want to select but stopped short of saying ballots are rigged. ohiocapitaljournal.com/2026/10/27/r...

Politics makes for strange bedfellows.

China’s first AI-generated theatrical feature has flopped, earning just $181,000 in its first weekend. By contrast, the scrappy ‘Niu Lai’ turned its crude animation into a viral attraction, grossing nearly $10 million a couple of months ago. www.cartoonbrew.com/box-office-r...

Nah. Democrats couldn't get away with this. Laws still apply.

This is literally the end of the rule of law. If a President can pardon people committing crimes on his behalf - and the Supreme Court says he himself can't be prosecuted for crimes committed as part of his job - then the government becomes a lawless entity able to violate our rights without limit.

You can almost pinpoint the bosses' revolt on this chart — at the spot in 2022 where billionaire political donors, _en masse_, picked a side.

Adam Bonica@adambonica.bsky.social

Mega-donors giving $1M+ make up 54% of GOP fundraising so far this cycle. It’s not just billionaires lining up for Trump’s open air auction of federal policy and contracts. The GOP also spammed and grifted its own small-dollar base into oblivion.

It looks like the GOP is going to do better on election day than the polls are predicting.

Marisa's entire piece is terrific, but this part has really stuck with me. A group of College Republicans decided that El-Sayed wasn't "welcome" in the Senate and set out to stop him.

SCOOP: 'Tommy' from the now-viral exchange with Abdul El-Sayed is Thomas Teepell, a former staffer for Republican Senator Josh Hawley with close ties to Christian Nationalist Sean Feucht. He's the son of a former Bobby Jindal staffer whose consultant work was instrumental in getting Hawley elected.

❗❗❗Mark Zuckerberg's meta just suspended the No Kings Instagram account. I just rushed back from my local No Kings to jump on this. Bottom line, would be helpful for all pro-No Kings folks to elevate the issue and help us get the word out about No Kings today. The Nerd Reich strikes again.

TikTok is owned by GOP allies. This is to be expected.

The National Security Strategy already made it crystal clear in word, now the U.S. intervention on behalf of Russia confirms it in practice: the Trump administration has transformed the U.S. from an ally into an enemy of the EU.

Once again, Variety runs an uncritical advertisement for AI slop dogshit that doesn't even have a distributor. Jay Penske is obviously invested heavily in AI, and the trades are suspect from top to bottom because of such obvious conflicts of interest. variety.com/2026/film/ne...

A lot of people are gonna jump to saying "this is so ESPN and the Big Ten and SEC can get paid." Sure but that's the 100 level course version. The root is that this sport has a fat administrative and coaching class that doesn't wanna look bad for spending money on players without playoff berths

To give a sense of scale, Musk is spending more on the midterms than he was on the 2024 election, and he was the biggest donor in that election. In 2025 he promised to pull back from politics and do much less political spending. Another lie.

It's absolute bullshit and should be derided as such.

This seems to me like a kind of formalism - one side isn't sure, the other side is, ergo the latter has more hubris, unwarranted certainty etc. But the substance here deserves a hearing. The serious suggestion that LLMs might be self-aware/conscious etc is the pretty huge claim that requires some...
