The future is treacherous computing everywhere. Unless you insist on running things locally, you'll never get to stop glancing over your shoulder and second-guessing how some terminally cop-brained program might interpret whatever input you provide.

One of my students just sent me this. They were using ChatGPT to help their cousin with geometry homework. Apparently, now ChatGPT thinks my (adult) student is a minor and will not provide the regular service until my student provides ID or a selfie. WELCOME TO THE FUTURE...I GUESS.

I'm back, I missed you all. Since this is an important subject I know too much about, here's a 🧵 explaining that AI Safety Is Mostly A Sex Cult. I don't think these people should make policy. (1/?) (alternative title: Time For Some Cult Theory)

One of the conservative architects of the UK's Online Safety Act is suddenly shocked — shocked! — to find that it applies to anti-immigrant content she likes. Censorship is a hungry, hungry, profoundly stupid beast.

dailymail.comNADINE DORRIES: Why we must scrap the Online Safety Act I helped shapeOn Sunday, the home affairs spokesman for Reform UK, Zia Yusuf, posted a video discussing the huge levels of mass migration Britain has had in recent years - and what our party will do about it.

… are fucking kidding me. A github.com cross-account RCE due to the most pedestrian of injection attacks along the obvious exposed surface… and they actually have a globally shared “git” UNIX user!! This is not what taking the role of supply chain stewards seriously looks like.

Sci-Hub is an evil website that pirated 85M+ research papers and made them freely available Now they've added AI to their database to make Sci-Bot. It answers your questions using latest, full-text articles. But DO NOT use it. We should all try to make billion-dollar academic publishers richer.

It sure is a terrible idea to internalize mass bootlick perspectives and treat them as the reference point from which one must justify deviations

Tim Pool: “I’m not licking the boot. It’s my boot. I voted for it. I’m the one stomping…” This mindset is genuinely pathetic. It’s an alpha fantasy: watching state violence and imagining you’re exercising power rather than the one submitting to it. /1

This just pissed me off even more than the re-handcuffing The notion that these motherfuckers were the ones showing grace, that the women should be appreciative and speak well of the agents, that substandard treatment is conditioned on the women's portraying then as benevolent Fuckin disgusting

They were eventually allowed one phone call as a thanks for saving the agent’s life. They used it to call their lawyer, who called their state representative, who ultimately got them released on the condition they tell people they were “treated kindly.”

Over 20 years, Iran has been the No1 country of origin for asylum seekers in the UK. Those who campaign to slash the rights of refugees, but today decry the savagery of the Iranian regime, need to have a little think. There is no safe route to the UK for Iranian asylum seekers.

The word has lost all meaning. People defending their home is now "terrorism".

It can be hard to imagine how to defend oneself against an overwhelming force like ICE. But a few enterprising hackers have started projects to do counter-surveillance against ICE, and hopefully protect their communities through clever use of technology. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

The Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) would force social media platforms to filter and suppress content that the Trump admin is willing to argue makes kids "depressed" or "anxious." Videos of ICE murdering people make me pretty depressed and anxious, and I'm a grown ass adult. See where this is going?
