Congratulations, Republicans. I'm a well-off white dude in his 50s. I'm a lawyer. I have additional degrees (plural) in commercial law. I am institutionalist and adverse to major change by nature. And, thanks to your decades of hard work, if I'm not a socialist now, I'm just a short step away.

Wow. This is a fantastic ad.

NEW AD: Have you seen these anti-Talarico attack ads? Elon Musk paid for nearly all of them. The world's first trillionaire knows if he drags the most corrupt politician in Texas across the finish line, Ken Paxton will owe him everything. Elon Musk: Texas is not for sale.

East Potomac costs $42 to play and hosts thousands of people each year. A lot of the players are beginners. A lot of them don't have that much money. A lot of them are black. This is the course Donald Trump has decided shouldn't exist, and in the past, he's been fairly explicit about why not

Bluesky I know you do not care about golf. But I am telling you that in this specific case, you SHOULD care about golf. I explain in @slate.com what the Trump administration is doing to East Potomac Golf Course in D.C. slate.com/culture/2026...

So we have an accusation of the Ramaswany campaign (or its big-money enablers) lying through their teeth from that noted liberal rag called... *checks notes* NATIONAL REVIEW.

To me, this sums up why having researchers with a range of backgrounds and life experiences is so critical to scientific innovation. We all experience different chaos and develop unique abilities to solve our way out of it. Science is poorer when it does not draw from many different lives.

An American tragedy. Of all the American televangelists, he had so much intellectually right. And at so many points, he was so close to really understanding his place. And his ego simply never let him.

Jim Bakker, who, along with his then-wife Tammy Faye, built an evangelical empire around the hugely successful TV show “The PTL Club,” only to lose it all over a sex scandal and financial crimes, has died.

When I have a little more of a life, I have to make comment on the end of the article. I am on an AI-forward campus, and while I still prefer my neo-Luddite posture, I am shifting a bit, under the influence of Walter Wimberly's ethics-and-technology thinking.

I'm at a place where I don't just have AI cheerleaders around me (love to my longtime friend David Hite, former Virginia Intermont colleague), but I have a Walter Wimberly who can be very critical and probing of both the AI-forward posture and neo-Luddites like me. I'm thinking. More to come.

Something remarkable is happening: James Talarico is running an expansively pro-immigrant campaign in Texas, a state Trump won by 14 points, speaking in Biblical terms about our duty to "the stranger." And it's resonating. That's seismic. 1/ (new piece) newrepublic.com/article/2160...

newrepublic.comIn Texas, Something Seismic Is Happening—and It’s All Trump’s FaultThanks to the economy and ICE, Trump has lost Texas Latinos. And James Talarico is developing a humane pro-immigrant message that’s resonating—even in this ultra-Trumpy state.

True, but there *is* a practical limit to how much money universities can raise! And the current system advantages the biggest sports powerhouses while screwing everyone else.

SpaceX just launched the 14th Starship test flight, and it's now successfully in orbit for the first time. This is an amazing achievement, and I absolutely detest how Musk has ruined this sort of thing both for me and for humanity.

I'm so tired of everything Texas Longhorns Football and I want them to lose. But apparently, from my social feeds, every Republican politician who has been hiding from the state of Tennessee turned up at Neyland Stadium to get pictures taken with Donald Trump. So I'm not mad Tennessee lost.
