School play gets canceled for "inappropriate content". In response students write [REDACTED], their own anti-censorship play skewering the school district, sells out performances, and ultimately takes gold at the Lenaea High School Theatre Festival. www.kqed.org/arts/1397192...

I am a former incarcerated firefighter. I served in a California fire camp from 2009 to 2012. Misinformation is afire on the internet, so here are facts about the prison firefighter program, all in one place. A thread.

Wow on some level I noticed that something in her campaign changed but now it’s so clear. This was a huge mistake. The beginning of the campaign was invigorating and felt like they were finally playing the game. Her concession speech was a completely different tone and did feel a little saccharine.

I just checked and this is accurate. We actually know the name of the guy who told Kamala Harris to stop saying “we’re not going back” and calling Republicans weird. It won’t surprise you to learn he’s a 71-year-old white guy who worked on Hillary Clinton’s campaigns.

I like the old line about libertarians being equivalent to house cats: convinced of their total independence while being entirely dependent on a system they do not either appreciate or comprehend

Do you guys ever think about how having SCOTUS Justices who think they’re above the law — and a congress that won’t do anything about it, like by passing SCOTUS ethics reforms — is bad for a constitutional democracy?

I don’t know if they’ve since been fixed, but at sone point someone graffiti’ed over the 3rd/4th st signs so it was literally impossible to know which way to go. I’ve cried over this sign before.

We all agree that the lanes on this sign rearrange themselves each night so that it’s never the same road twice, right

Please don’t shame people for buying second-tier and filler candy for Halloween. If kids don’t get to experience the full range of options, how will they professionally rank candy for October podcasts and think pieces when they grow up?

Love this call out. There’s some nuance to it imo, depending on the show and the producers, but reality tv is pretty real you guys! I swear!

There’s no such thing as a villain edit in reality TV. We always edit people to make them look better, not worse. So, if someone comes across as awful, trust in that the raw footage makes them look worse not better.

This means that California will not only get a Black woman Senator but also its first openly lesbian Senator. Laphonza will be the second lesbian to serve in the Senate. I have known Laphonza for many years and she is exactly the right person to take care of this seat.

politico.comNewsom picks Laphonza Butler as Feinstein replacementCalifornia’s governor chose a labor leader turned power player to serve in the Senate, and an adviser told POLITICO there were no preconditions about whether she could run in 2024.

Conservatives pretend to care about sex trafficking and child abuse primarily to fuel fantasies of retribution against societal others. As soon as these issues touch a person they like or a powerful institution, they hand-wave it away. They do not give a shit about actual kids.
