First Musk said he did not disable Starlink for Ukraine. Now he's confessing to disabling it but says he was justified in doing so. Congress, if you can hear me, we need hearings when Dems take over. www.cnn.com/2026/10/25/e...

Any response @nytimes.com?
🧵I'm going to say this carefully -my heart aches for those now mourning -every unnecessary death is a tragedy -what did you expect from ppl at the sharp end of guns & bulldozers? -in early Oct, Israeli military+settlers killed 5 Palestinians in the WBank & 57 in Gaza—why isn't that "breaking news"?
@nytimes.com regarding the "smart wall," I have questions. * First Amendment! Doesn't it matter? * Fourth Amendment! Doesn't it matter? www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Now that both parts are up, here's a short 🧵on my deep dive into why American roads are a sea of SUVs and trucks – and no, it's not just "consumer demand." 🙄 First: the light truck loophole — which was closed recently! But not in a way people are celebrating ...

City workers usually move fast to dismantle a guerrilla crosswalk or bench, often arriving in a matter of hours. IMO that's part of the activists' power: They show that government *can* quickly change streets—even if it seldom does.

Evanston's bike infrastructure has always seemed haphazard to me, almost as if isolated chunks of bike lanes were only built if they could piggyback on some street repair/renovation project which received federal or state funding. That is, it pretty much seems like an afterthought to me.
Evanston's official bike map looks like a connected network, but most "routes" are just small green signs. ETA mapped the real story: disconnected, disjointed, few protected lanes or traffic calming. Many neighborhoods have nothing. We need a citywide network to achieve our safety and climate goals.

Read this week’s letter in the Roundtable from Sylvia in Evanston’s 5th Ward, calling for protected bike lanes, raised crosswalks, narrowed roads, and red light enforcement cameras in response to recent crashes and dangerous driving incidents. evanstonroundtable.com/2026/10/05/l...

It's a great book. The only reason I can see to prevent it from being added to state DOTs' libraries is they fear it will show their operating principles are nothing but a house of cards.
In honor of #BannedBooksWeek, I'm happy to report that many state DOTs have refused to add my book to their own libraries (and happier to report that many of the same state DOTs have held secret book clubs with my book)

@corkboard.at Interesting idea, but lacks any sort of feedback. For example, the Chicago Marathon advertisement says Oct 10. It's actually Oct 11. ;-)
@joycewhitevance.bsky.social I know you focus your work on analysis of cases before the courts and their decisions. I have two questions perhaps you could squeeze in somewhere.
3. Many prosecutors (DOJ) and agents (FBI) have left or been fired. Once we get a sane administration back in DC, will a non-trivial fraction of them rejoin their previous organizations? It seems that the fastest way to return to something like normal would be to rehire some of the people they lost.

“What’s being sought are damages that would be crippling,” said former Attorney General Bill Barr, .... “It’s imperative these cases be put to rest and this whole approach be put to rest.” Note he didn't say Big Oil wasn't culpable. www.politico.com/news/2026/10...

What exactly does "monitoring" mean in the context of this administration? I have an image of a clown car where the clowns hop out at stop lights to check the car's tire pressure.
BREAKING: White House “monitoring” a suspected outbreak of the plague in Russia. Five hospitals are reportedly under compulsory quarantine. Russian media reported an accident at a state biolab, which killed a lab worker. Pneumonic plague has a fatality rate of 100% unless treated within 24 hours.
