Today is #OrangeShirtDay and today, I wore orange for my grandpa who survived the violence of the Residential Indian Boarding Schools. For my grandma, who my grandpa met while attending high school at the Chilocco Indian School, for my mom and her silbings who also attended Chilocco.

While Weiss and the Goldwater Institute frame repatriation as a loss to science, they ignore the violence that filled museum shelves in the first place. Native ancestors were taken, stolen, stored, studied, and displayed without consent or regard for cultural protocol and respect for generations.

What do you mean "create a code of conduct" there already IS a code of conduct that prohibits murdering people who are not using violent force. It is called the US Constitution. If that's not binding ICE, neither will your agreement.

Transphobia is a cancer of the heart and mind. It is a useless fear, based on ignorance and cruelty. Trans people are not responsible for a single one of the problems we face. Do the world a favor and grow the fuck up.

This is wrong. Human rights experts have been explaining to you for years why it is wrong. For example: www.wired.com/story/section-230-is-a-last-line-of-defense-for-abortion-speech-online/ At this point it just seems like you're countering digital hate by ... helping fascists? Make it make sense.

wired.comSection 230 Is a Last Line of Defense for Abortion Speech OnlineDobbs should be a wake-up call for anyone seeking to undercut the immunity protections afforded by Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act.

Did you know Section 230 allows social media companies to avoid liability for what's posted on their platforms? Even when harmful content spreads and real people are hurt. Join us and help CCDH stand up to demand accountability ⤵️ https://bit.ly/4qUtH5n

Quit talking about Trump. Address everything, every issue to Miller and Vought. Make Trump irrelevant, his ego will not let him be out of the spotlight and you’ll see Miller and Vought removed and the rest of the administration collapse.

In America you drop your kid off at school, get your brains blown out on the ride home, then the Vice President drops everything for a week to call you a terrorist, to slander your family, to protect the circumstances that led to your death so they can do it again. It is government by Alex Jones.

In a world without Section 230: 😩 Big Tech companies everyone hates would win. Giants like Meta and Google have armies of lawyers to navigate compliance 😩 Alternative platforms like Bluesky and Mastodon would likely shut down, along with Wikipedia, review sites, how-to resources, small forums, etc

When you post your #SpotifyWrapped, you’re not just doing free advertising for a company that exploits artists, recruits for ICE, and invests in AI war machines. You’re actively celebrating the fact that you’re being surveilled and participating in your own surveillance. Maybe … don’t do that?

I have needed & still need a lot of help. I grew up poor & know what a huge difference kindness can make in one's life and I try to pay it forward as much as possible. So this Christmas, Be an Angel! There are angel trees, toy drives & food drives happening and if you have the means, be an angel.

Online age verification is not like "showing ID to buy alcohol" because a) the liquor store doesn't get to scan your ID and store a digital copy of it forever in a database that will inevitably get hacked b) you don't have to show ID to go to the library because they have cocktail recipe books

"Age verification" laws are actually "upload your ID or get your face scanned to access every website, ending anonymity and associating your identity with everything you do online" laws and if more people understood that they would not be down for this authoritarian nonsense

Disabled people are 11 times more likely to die during labor/in the postpartum period than non-disabled people. Better education and smashing ableism is how we get out of this horrible stat. For the past year, I’ve been looking into the topic of disability and pregnancy for @motherjones.com 🧵

Americans’ awareness of our eugenics history is non-existent, so people don’t see it coming back. ”Farms for the defective” sounds like RFKj’s “wellness farms” no? Image: “Proceedings of the Association of Medical Officers of American Institutions for Idiotic and Feeble-Minded Persons,” 1892.
