Great thread! I would add that AI boosters dwell in the world of the corporation, full of managers parroting jargon like "deliverables" or "getting buy ins." Bender has accused a world full of parrots of creating machines that parrot. That they are oblivious to the irony should not be a surprise.

My standing search on the phrase "stochastic parrots" regularly turns up people labeling it a "thought-terminating cliché". I think maybe they're right, but not the way the think they are: >>

The lessons from Brazil and Serbia? Don't concede one inch of ground to the far right. Don't appease. Don't triangulate. Don't grovel. Don't say they have "legitimate concerns". Mobilise your base, and fight them with all the democratic means at your disposal.

"protest is meant to be inconvenient" is an often missed point. Yeah bear with getting stalled in traffic for a while so you take the time to think and realize that things like potentially losing your vote are what are at stake today.

The #righttoprotest is not 'granted' in a #democracy, as per 'convenience'. The right is a vital part of democracy, guaranteed by our Constitution; it is the voice of the people. #protest is meant to be inconvenient, to shake up the masses, to awaken them, to rise against injustice. 1/
