The Government™ has made an ad about all these protests happening around the world, and it’s surprisingly honest and informative.

“The only sensible solution at this point is a moratorium on datacentres until very basic questions about how many we need, what for, where, and how pollution will be avoided are answered satisfactorily by the government” - @olliehayes.bsky.social 👏

The Belleville synagogue shooter was an antisemitic COVID conspiracist discharged from the army for refusing vaccines. It's wild that commentary on this shooting IMMEDIATELY went to anti-immigrant, Islamophobic bigotry. But THIS is the extremism that sent me an antisemitic death threat in 2022.

Over the last few weeks I have forked the archived Struturizr .NET SDK and launched the NuGet pacakges for use. I could really use help and feedback, so if you use C4 in the .NET space, please take a look and leave me issues/PRs for things that are missing! stacy-clouds.net/blogposts/20...

stacy-clouds.netIntroducing C4.Net - A Structurizr Client and More | Stacy CloudsFor years I've been using C4 diagrams to document my architecture. The reasons are too long to list here, but for me it's just the easiest way to see the various levels. I also used the C4 DSL SDK so ...

Yay… The vote for us, we care about the people parties have released their budgets and the general population is hit again… who could have seen this coming! Aside from literally anyone… I just got the mail from my insurance company. My bill will rise, they think, by at least 215 euros…

Anything but tax the billionaires and corporations that keep on laying people off, and overworking the remaining (leading to more use of the health service…), for the sake of dividends and stock price.

Saturday was sewing day, today I went for art. I saw an acrylic tutorial on YouTube but was too fatigued to get those paints out, so I went with acrylic pens instead. Not great, but (a) better than nothing (b) better than I would have done a year ago and (c) way, way better than AI slop 🥰

For the first time in years I got my sewing machine out to fix a manufacturing defect in a pair of jeans I bought. I forgot to send them back in time, and now they are fixed I’m glad I didn’t. They would have gone to landfill, this way they get used!

First day back at work after a 2 week vacation and it's update time. macOS: 10 mins for the update to installe and restart Windows: 30 mins and counting. 2 restarts so far I hate that Windows has become so unusable 😭

Always use the right tools if you can. Several years ago our hardwood fence needed maintenance. It took several weekend, drill bits (because they just burned out), and blood sweat and tears. Today our hardwood fence needed fixing (different house, same fence type). 10 mins. Ten!

The difference, older and wiser, and got hex hardwood screws (why do we use Philips when hex is obviously way better!) and hardwood drill bit wood drill bit. That’s it. Same drill as before, but it was soooo easy. Live and learn.

So there has been another data breach. Metabase, an analytics tool, was attacked and details of users from multiple applications has been exposed. Interesting to see how the different companies reacted. I got emails from a couple immediately. And others dragged their feet.

You should always expect your app to be hacked. Do your best to stop it, of course, but ensure that if hacked the damage is as limited as possible. And if hacked, let your customers know asap.

In this case there was a 2 week window for one of the apps I use. 2 weeks of enough data to try phising on the people whose personal data was taken. That is unacceptable...

I was watching the partial eclipse we had through my telescope (with solar filter) and tried to get a picture through the eyepiece. Unfortunately it went too low below the trees before the maximum but it was still a. Amazing experience!

When I return from spending some time with my family I'm going to be spending a couple of days learning something new. Something that I love about my career. It's also something that is scary about my career. But always learning means there is always something new stacy-clouds.net/blogposts/20...

Dead or alive, Mitch McConnell is on extended medical leave — on your dime. This is the same Mitch McConnell who voted against: paid family and medical leave for everyone else.

There are time when just stopping is the right thing to do. On the way to getting bloodwork and pick up new meds I passed this lamppost on my bike. On the way back I stopped to get the sun behind it. It was so relaxing just to stop, look, capture the image, and chat to an older lady who was passing

I’ve always loved the cycling culture in Nederland, of course it helps that in our village we have lots of greenery. But there is so much that you miss in the car 🤩 And with the cycle paths it’s not even like driving is faster! I love it when my body lets me take the bike!

I did it, I for my birthday this year I have decided to give myself time to listen to music again. Only it's not that simple... The easier music is to listen to, the harder it is to sit and liten to something intentionallty. VIntage audio, here I come! stacy-clouds.net/blogposts/20...

stacy-clouds.netIntentionality | Stacy CloudsIf you do something, do it with intentionality. That is advice that I have heard from Scott Hanselman . I can't find the exactly link - but his site is worth a visit anyway! As I come up to 1/2 a cent...
