St. Sabina Catholic Church in Chicago has placed more than 100 crosses outside the parish. Each bears the name of someone who died in ICE custody or during an immigration enforcement action. Union workers built the traveling memorial, which began at Holy Name Cathedral last month.

Horrific

NEW: ICE is arresting and detaining a record number of pregnant women and teens. At the same time, it has lost count of how many had miscarriages, according to a Guardian review of internal ICE documents. w/ @amyqin.bsky.social, @wcraft.bsky.social and Flávio Pessoa

Horrific.

“‘If a fire occurs in the cabin ... don’t check on the immigrants. Just make sure that you and the guards and the people that work for the government get off," one flight attendant was told. “It was as if the detainees’ lives were worthless,’” said another. (Published April 2025)

Brilliant, insightful, and important. Worth the read.

"Coalitions that are expanding their power will, by definition, include people who have changed their mind. Granting people the space to shift their political behavior without shame is all the more important under authoritarianism." ICYMI @fieldsmeyer.com:

I think about gay men during the AIDS crisis, in the face of what often seemed like utter hopelessness, using everything in the arsenal--rage, resolve, defiance, humor, sexual energy, imagination, and art--to prevent despair from ruling the day. Even Larry Kramer didn't simply say, "We're doomed."

I now fervently believe this. Relatedly, I think celebrating good news and embracing joy are equally radical. You have to remember what you’re fighting for. We cannot sustainably organize around sorrow.

NBA is rigged! when Spurs had 29 point lead the game should have been immediately stopped and Spurs declared winner. Instead officials decides to play "4th quarter?" and Knicks "somehow" score enough baskets to win. Fraud!

Buttigieg: We sit in a in a country that's got the wrong number of people on the Supreme Court, possibly the wrong number of representatives in the House of Representatives. And by the way, when you consider the disenfranchisement of the people of DC, we have the wrong number of states in the US

In January, Zohran Mamdani took action against bankrupt landlord Pinnacle, which was responsible for over 5,000 housing violations. Thanks to his intervention, Pinnacle's new owners have forgiven millions in tenants' back rent. This is what governing for the people looks like.

it is darkly funny that his son got married and he was like "ohhhhh uhhhh something popped up, you know, the war, I gotta do work on the war that night, unfortunately I just can't go" and then 2 weeks later, same war still going on, he's shutting down midtown Manhattan to watch the Knicks

In April 2024, Spain ran its entire national grid on 100% renewable electricity for a full day — and solar was the single largest contributor. No gas. No coal. No nuclear on standby. The lights stayed on in Madrid and Barcelona with nothing but wind, hydro, and sun. Stop #oilandgas !! #ActOnClimate

"France passed a single law and instantly unlocked 11 gigawatts of #solarenergy — without using new land. In 2023, France's government mandated solar canopies over all car parks larger than 80 spaces. The scale was enormous: There are 400,000 parking areas across France #ActOnClimate #Renewables

Sound barriers along the E40 and E17 motorways near Ghent and Antwerp have been fitted with integrated solar panels — their south-facing surfaces generating electricity fed into adjacent grid connections

Add 4 justices to the Court. That’s a remedy the Court can’t strike down, unlike, e.g., term limits.

Whitehouse: "If you look at all the Court's elections decisions, every one has the effect of helping the GOP. If you look at all their regulatory decisions, every one has the effect of helping the fossil fuel industry that funds the GOP. You can predict with perfect certainty what happens."

The redistricting in red states we are seeing is STONE COLD RACISM. Censoring historical facts and rewriting history is sick. Firing African Americans at the Pentagon is sick. It’s happening in the open and it needs to be called out.

NEW ANALYSIS: What's going on in Spain? Spain's wholesale electricity price in early 2026: €44/MWh. Italy: €127. Germany: €96. UK: €103. Wind+solar now deliver 44% of generation. Gas sets the price in just 9% of hours, down from 55% in 2022. Full analysis: janrosenow.substack.com/p/spain-just...

Two US-flagged commercial ships made through the Strait of Hormuz with two US destroyers, multiple combat helicopters, and thousands of personnel shooting projectiles and attack boats. I don’t think that’s what shipping and insurance companies had in mind by safe passage with profit worth the risk.
