A great way for Canada to show our commitment to a better, stronger partnership with Europe would be for us to support this project! Imagine the opportunities for Canadian scientists!
Does humanity have the will to build the worlds largest particle accelerator? CERN's current 27km long accelerator will reach its max potential in next decade or two. What then? Plans afoot to build a new one in a new 91km tunnel under France- Switzerland.

It’s voting day! 🗳️ Torontonians: make sure you vote for OLIVIA Chow not Braeden Chow. The first names are in teeny tiny print on the ballot and it’s easy to mix up Braeden for Olivia. Check you’re voting for the right Chow, Olivia, when filling in the circle! #Toronto#TOpoli@mayoroliviachow.ca
I'm apprehensive, because I've seen my fellow citizens make bad calls before. But I believe we can also pull together and get it right. I have hope.
Toronto, if you haven't already, please get to the polls and cast your ballot to re-elect Olivia Chow as our Mayor!
One of the big ways you can support all my podcasting and video content is joining my Patreon! You'll get all kinds of cool stuff, like photos of random reptiles, geeky media commentary, and much more.
Topic suggests always welcome, too. Consider joining up! I'm cheap :P

Toronto friends, it's municipal election day. It's time to re-elect Olivia Chow as our Mayor so we can keep building a better Toronto for all!
Remember, it's a LONG ballot. Olivia is #9 on the ballot.
(There's another Chow just above her. Don't accidentally vote for him!)
I cast my ballot in the municipal election! Thanks to the hard-working City of Toronto poll workers, who ably managed a jamming ballot tabulating machine and impatient waiting voters.

Okay. BC election outcome: Bad. Vancouver, Serbia and Brazil election outcomes: Really freaking good. Come on Toronto, let's be on the not-screwing-it-up side of history and re-elect Olivia Chow!
This is a great look at how Israel's parliament functions (or doesn't).
And for those of us who want electoral reform but always have Israel cited at us as an example of the dangers of PR, it also explains the real pitfalls and failures of their electoral system and how seats are apportioned.
This is a good primer on Israel's political situation going into tomorrow's election. But I'd like to go deeper on something he only touches on, which is that part of the reason for Israel's electoral doldrums (and resulting geopolitical chaos) is its broken political system bsky.app/profile/avis...
It's a sobering reminder of how party list-based systems can be used to further centralize power in the hands of party leaders.
I'm now more convinced that the best solution for Canada is multiple-member districts federally and provincially (at least in Ontario).
As I've said before, it's only once I became a professor that I realized the entmoot, a meeting that goes on for three days and three nights, was a professor's joke about faculty meetings.

We at the Skiffy and Fanty show do not platform people like Jon Del Arroz.
Just sayin'
We do reviews, interviews and more on our blog
We do liveshows every Friday.
We do discussions for our Patreons
We are Skiffy and Fanty. And we have no truck with misogynists or racists.

He's also following the accounts of progressive people in SF&F, media, comics, and fandom. Just a few so far, but it's hard not to suspect he's using them as cover at best. I blocked him preemptively.
If you think a system that allows rich people to consolidate power and force the rest of us to work under them, and pollutes the land that gives us life, is going to get us out of this mess—you're in the way.

Hey, so, it actually took a lot of people doing a lot of unpaid work for Jon Del Arroz to be properly marginalized from the SFF community, and now he’s back, and in one of the more widely read genre fan columns around. So I just have one question:
@file770.bsky.social, what the actual hell?
Not from a NOVEL and it's niche, but as a teen I first read the word auto-cannon in a @sjgames.com CAR WARS supplement, and I thought it was something they'd made up that meant "big car gun". Confused the heck out of me when it came up in other contexts.
We've officially hit the halfway point on our raw funds goal for our 2026 fundraiser!
We only have $247 to go on that!
For our Patreon goal, we're $29/mo away from hitting that, and just two $5/mo supporters from unlocking the next giveaway!
Do your thing, Internet!

On Bradford’s Water Plan:
He and his team are so close to literally stating the problem. They just don’t follow this thought to the obvious conclusion. Obtuse on their part. And then they act offended when anyone points out the flaw.

Polls say mayoral candidate Brad Bradford is almost certain to lose in the ward he has represented for the past eight years.
But that doesn't mean support isn't growing for his campaign.
New from @dmrider.bsky.social:
In the last 3 years, Bradford has stood in the way of making Toronto a more affordable and liveable city. Please look at his voting record, and vote accordingly on Monday.
Just because you ride a lot doesn’t mean you understand the needs of the city’s cyclists — especially children, women, and immigrants.
The ravines are great. For daytime recreational rides.
"Look, nobody rides more bikes than I do. I rode 10,000 kilometres last year," brags Bradford.
He says he's "the only candidate that has a plan to build new cycling infrastructure — we're just going to do it in our ravine network."
The Skiffy and Fanty Show is LIVE w/ our next fundraiser event!
It's Day 1 of The Holding Tank Hounds, a D&D Actual Play. Paul Weimer guides Lee Burdette, Trish Matson, Jennifer Brozek, and Shaun Duke into his 13th Icon universe!
Enjoy the fun and donate!
