Number 1 overall in American Horror. Out of the all the love I’ve gotten for this book, the fact that @stephengrahamjones.com blurbed an unknown author and eventually incorporated it into the possession sub-genre of one of his college classes remains the highest compliment. Thanks, Doc.

Don’t pay to get published. Ever. Fuck vanity presses. Fuck “agents” who ask for money. Fuck “pay to play” anthologies. Don’t. Fucking. Pay.

I wish I could juggle reading 5 books at a time like Octavia Butler and writing 5 projects at a time like Shirley Jackson but as it happens, I can barely manage to get through 2 books a month anymore, and haven't touched my current novella in progress in weeks 😔

Can't stop thinking about the people who want horror to be hopeful and uplifting and why that is so diametrically opposed to what horror is and why we need horror

I've read several (good!) books this year that have made me say "Wow, I would have been obsessed with this as a teenager." Currently one-third of the way through THE KEEPER by Sarah Langan and it definitely falls into this category

If you want to help an author, please remember to rate their books on Amazon! Everything these days is determined by algorithms, and ratings really help. (An Amazon "review" only has to be a couple of words...!) THANK YOU!! 🖤🖤🖤

Somewhere between a quarter and a third of the way through writing a novelette/novella I intend to pair with a different novella I wrote years ago. Coming of (r)age extreme horror (with a heart, I hope).

I'm almost finished reading LOST BOY LOST GIRL by Peter Straub and am very annoyed with myself for not knowing Tim Underhill and Tom Pasmore were characters from his Blue Rose trilogy, which I own but haven't read yet.

Watching reruns of the original Matlock with my dad, and I have to stop myself from pointing at a guest star and saying, "That's the guy who got his skin ripped off and worn by his brother in HELLRAISER"

Your monthly reminder: Keep writing. When no one cares, persist. When things appear to be crumbling, keep at it. When it's difficult, push through. When you feel alone, listen to the stories in your blood. Just write. The world needs your stories.
