Monstrous beyond all reckoning. The US is using remote sensing *designed for humanitarian purposes* for the opposite purpose, potentially drowning civilians en masse. Trump hates Somalis. His troops appear to be exploiting the weather to help slaughter them. www.theguardian.com/global-devel...

A great feature about an incredibly talented man, plus @steverose7.bsky.social describes A Thousand Blows (some of which Ashley directed, as well as playing Hezekiah's dad in a flashback) as the "underrated Victorian crime series"! Animol sounds fantastic too: www.theguardian.com/film/2026/oc...

I spoke to ASHLEY WALTERS about prison, directing his first movie, Top Boy, So Solid Crew, having 8 children, alcoholism, Noel Clarke, etc. The man has lived a LIFE www.theguardian.com/film/2026/oc...

Excellent @zoesqwilliams.bsky.social: “One of the paradoxes of t climate debate is that t far right talks as though disaster is not real, but acts as though it’s imminent. The left does the opposite, talking of catastrophe but acting as if there’s time to lose.” www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I was sent this clip from the ending of Ben Affleck’s Netflix movie ANIMALS, a scene that likely has been partially created by AI, and I’m watching it over and over again while laughing my ass off this morning.
I spoke to Arturo Bejar, the Meta whistleblower whose testimony has led to a real social reckoning for the company. He doesn’t have a lot of good things to say about Mark Zuckerberg. www.theguardian.com/media/2026/o...

I could not bave more respect and awe for #ColinKaepernick ! This article tells so much more about his accomplishments and courage than anything I’ve seen! I’m excited to buy his memoir! #BLM ✊🏿 #PINKS
I spoke to COLIN KAEPERNICK about his life, career, activism, what's happened in the 10 years since he took a knee - and how he manages to stay so unbelievably positive through it all. www.theguardian.com/world/ng-int...

This is one of the longest, hardest, most worthwhile pieces I’ve ever written. The story of a pollution incident in rural Sussex that’s Britain in microcosm - polluted rivers, dumping on farmland, govt agencies doing nothing. But also plans for a better way… www.theguardian.com/environment/...
I wrote about the many threats to the great British chippie which are pushing up prices and closing down shops. But maybe a new generation can save it? www.theguardian.com/business/202...

For those intrigued by Ilya Khrzhanovsky's DAU movie which just played at Venice, I interviewed him and gained access to his bizarre world back in 2019. One of the weirdest film projects I've ever reported on. www.theguardian.com/film/2019/ja...

I am a scientist – and the answer is climate change. Yes, there is nuance. Yes, it could take a long time to identify the precise mechanisms. But there is no question why ice and snow-related disasters are on the rise. Our planet is warming at an unprecedented rate, and humans are responsible.
In Nepal, it will most likely take months for scientists to understand exactly what led to deadly flash floods that killed over 1,000 people and left thousands missing. Early theories posit glacier meltwater and a thawing permafrost could have contributed to bedrock collapse.
I spoke the very likeable and highly versatile DOMHNALL GLEESON, about new stuff like The Incomer and S2 of The Paper, his family, Taylor Swift, Werner Herzog, etc. www.theguardian.com/film/2026/se...

“The media’s Hasan Piker obsession is letting Republican Mike Rogers off the hook” Mike Rogers isn’t merely campaigning alongside a controversial supporter. His campaign put an extremist on its faith leadership team. Me, for The Guardian:

It's not often you can pinpoint real, positive change a journalist has caused. But as Turkmeni sources state, @dpcarrington.bsky.social's persistent and probing coverage of this issue has been critical to a change of policy, with massive implications. Big congrats www.theguardian.com/environment/...

The Guardian's review of my new book Betrayal. The headline asks: "Is Trump a Russian asset? My answer, broadly, is yes. (Most people seem to agree; the piece has generated 5K comments; typically "Duh"!) "If he were a Russian agent, what would he do differently?” www.theguardian.com/books/2026/a...
