I keep thinking about how Republicans campaigned and fundraised forever off of the Clinton administration repatriating Elian Gonzalez to Cuba, how they told Cuban-Americans for generations that only Republicans could be trusted to protect their families and friends... and here we are

I'm with the senator from Rhode Island. "Weird" wasn't a strong enough word. Effective immediately, we should go with "creepy" when describing these people

“Not enough people know the story about how this court got captured by a bunch of creepy right-wing billionaires,” U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse told hundreds of Iowa Democrats on Saturday. Promised to "put a lot of attention right away” on SCOTUS. laurabelin.substack.com/p/sheldon-wh...

Happy to see the lawyers promising to block the Toddler in Chief’s order to put his name back on the Kennedy Center on the grounds that it’s defacing a national monument, but sorta curious if we’re bringing that same energy to, you know, his bulldozing of the White House

Every day this guy does something like this and every day the same people who dress him up as a terrifying commie destroyer of civilization do a dozen things to sabotage the public good, to murder and destroy and hate and kill, and I can't anymore handle those who won't see the clear difference.

This summer, we kept the lights on all night, every night, at five soccer fields across New York City.

This was the scene at Calvert Vaux Park in Gravesend, Brooklyn Tuesday night.

The victim's brother said that ICE agent approached from the passenger side of the car, stuck his hand in through the window, and opened fire. He says that ICE officers kept shooting even as the car had come to a stop and was put into park.

I'd be interested in some thoughts from Americans on here on an idea: Over the last 5 years, have you found yourself identifying more with your home state than the US as a whole over time?

With this ruling, the birthright issue is not going away. The right hasn't really begun *organizing* around getting rid of the citizenship clause. Like Roe, this will be their fight for a generation. And if the Democrats just say "we won" and ignore it, like Roe, the Republicans will eventually win.

The messaging for Democrats could be remarkably simple, if they could only see it. "Republicans can only destroy. They make nothing. They only tear down, undermine, poison, and bulldoze -- from entire news networks to, literally, the White House itself. They are pathetic, tantruming babies."

The SCOTUS has become so bold that they went from "This is the outcome we want, so we'll pretend/twist the law to fit the decision we want to get to" to "This is the outcome we want, so we're not even going to consider lower court rationale, apply the law, or pretend like laws matters for our side."

BREAKING: In an unsigned, per curiam opinion on the shadow docket, the SCOTUS conservatives allow Alabama to use a congressional map held repeatedly by a lower court to have been enacted with discriminatory intent.

Re: art vs. conservatism. Outstanding thread filled with excellent discussion.

A.R. Moxon@juliusgoat.bsky.social

Can conservatives make art? Yeah maybe, but not so long as one of the core identity markers for "conservative" is open contempt for art, the artists who make it, and the craft they employ to make it, nor as long as their interaction with art is reduced to a desire to either crush or commodify it.
