Look, I know all the reasons we got here, but we really need to start seriously thinking about what we do in a world where The Markets punish whole countries for voting for decency, compassion, and fairness. We must stop pretending the capitalist machine is an objective, value neutral force.

It's very, very telling, I think, that the markets are so concerned about the pro-democracy incumbent winning

The elections are on next Tuesday, and so much is at stake, including the soul of the Democratic Party when it comes to transgender people. I am asking you to leave a very small number of races blank in which a Democrat has embraced extreme anti-trans hate. I make my case here.

erininthemorning.comDon’t Vote For The Worst Anti-Trans DemocratsThe Democratic Party should, and likely will, win big in the midterms. We must not send the worst anti-trans voices to join them.

The lessons from Brazil and Serbia? Don't concede one inch of ground to the far right. Don't appease. Don't triangulate. Don't grovel. Don't say they have "legitimate concerns". Mobilise your base, and fight them with all the democratic means at your disposal.

Gave #Zen Browser a try, what with people bigging it up after the demise of Arc. That lasted not much more than overnight, and back to #Firefox. It’s only because it *is* a Firefox derivative that I tried it, as I could keep sync and uBlock Origin.

It’s basically a Firefox reskin, where the skin is frankly incomplete; bits of Firefox that are stopped from working are showing through. Bits I was using. I’m old-fashioned, I use bookmarks and a small number of very ephemeral tabs.

People are like "be careful of that trans woman, she was socialised male so she's dangerous" and then you look at her and see the most timid creature in the world who has never heard "I love you" from someone who didn't hurt her

Trans women experienced misogyny as girls, even before they or anyone else labeled them as such. Aberrant and effeminate behavior in "boys" is punished by rape, ostracization, beating by parents and peers long before wny of us have the words for why were different.

I am actually genuinely fuming about the cyber guy not knowing what PHP is. I've been fighting for fucking years to be taken seriously as a woman in tech & still regularly get talked down to & some bloke can just turn up on TV as an *expert*, without the first fucking clue.

For three years, Britain's political class made clear that genocide was not a red line. Now they're making clear that opposition to genocide is a red line.

If they will do this to a trans woman with the most urgent, life threatening but treatable cancer, how can any trans person trust it won't happen to us for something less urgent? Theres a lot of delusional optimism that they'll "find a solution". But they didn't for Joelle and now she's dead.

We’re looked at by cis ‘allies’ as being incredulous when we talk about our first hand experiences with the NHS. Because the NHS has been imprinted as some kind of ‘sacred cow’ on the British psyche. I doubt the impact these ‘separate but equal’ guidelines will have upon us will make them listen.

I'm going to attempt some DIY. This might not end well. First curse: I have no pencil with which to mark the spot I need to drill, so I'm going to have to use a pen. how do you know what size drill bit to use? is this just knowledge men are born with? nothing in instructions... guess by eye I guess

there are drill bits that look like they're made of brass, but I suspect they're not. There are others that look like steel, but I'm not sure about that either now. and some that look like aluminium but anyone's guess... and one of the brass ones is missing, which i have no memory of using....

Rather than offer the rhetoric of reset to fix the Government’s broken relationship with the UK’s LGBTQ+ community, Labour have taken a shock-and-awe approach to a slew of contradictory announcements and restrictions on living freely as a trans person, writes Steph Paton ✍️

To get my messages across, I first have to be very beautiful. If I’m not very beautiful, you won’t even pay attention to what I post. You won’t even notice me. Your eyes have been trained to look for what’s extremely beautiful, what’s Instagrammable. That’s what the modern system has taught you.

I have just messaged the PM about the Labour MP’s appalling comments. I have called for him to remove the whip from her, and that lack of action indicates his tacit support for her appalling discriminatory views. I urge folk to do the same.

Looking forward to seeing lots of people holding up placards saying "God help us authors who support Palestine and Palestine Action" at the next anti-genocide demo, because the statement doesn't meet the criminal threshold and so the people holding them won't be arrested, right?

Labour aren’t going to fix this trans segregation, something they’re actively responsible for, and nobody should kid themselves that they’re going to improve any time in the future. The Labour Party is dead for anyone with anything vaguely resembling morals.

Even before the NHS transphobia went out Andy Burnham had become the most transphobic Prime Minister in the UK’s history. Now he is troweling on the transphobia layer by layer. Burnham is just a bully and a bigot. About as progressive as Suella Braverman.

If you would try to win by abandoning trans people (or any targeted group) you can save this “we need to win” talk; there is no “we.” I am about solidarity, and you have chosen anti-solidarity. You are not any “we” I recognize. You are the enemy I’m trying to defeat. Beating you is how my “we” wins.

In Bush era gestures at green tech, we briefly got excited about biodiesel. But in the US that meant corn, and experts got upset because corn biodiesel is negative EROI. I saw one person describe it as "a corn disposal method". In that sense, I posit Bitcoin and AI to be "compute disposal methods".
