Excellent news. I like the way the main play by play guy on RDS says his name

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEXCELLENT! 🤩 Nous avons prolongé le contrat de notre demi de coin partant Lorenzo Burns pour deux saisons supplémentaires, soit jusqu’à la fin de la saison 2028. -- We have signed starting corner Lorenzo Burns to a two-year contract extension through the 2028 season. 📝 [1/2]

I dunno how the audio works for this RDS broadcast of the Elks game, but after that last penalty call I heard Glen Suitor talking for a split second, and I am not happy about it.

I like how this graphic kinda makes it look like Hellebuyck had been traded FOR the New Jersey Devils

🚨 THE SAGA IS OVER. HELLEBUYCK IS GOING TO NEW JERSEY 🚨 Connor Hellebuyck has offically been traded to the New Jersey Devils. Details to follow, per Darren Dreger.

Remember, it’s only a waste of time and money if we don’t take this result as a mandate to relentlessly humiliate and ostracize this movement.

Alberta may be an exhausting shitshow, but it's not all bad. For example, it's where my cats are.

Most of the coverage tonight has been a relitigation of Alberta’s grievances. Talking to separatists whining about Trudeau, panelists whining about Trudeau…and nobody ever really trying to introduce facts to their feelings. Pathetic.

You don't have to do this, @cbcradiocanada.bsky.social. It's a choice. They want to defund you. They think you're a propaganda arm of an evil government. You will never win them over by showing them grace when they show absolutely none towards you.

Little known fact (among Alberta separatists): "Oil Country" is a hockey marketing slogan, not a fucking political philosophy.

This is what I tell people from outside of Alberta: you notice how these people have failed after all this time to produce a single presentable standard-bearer? It’s because they have nobody presentable—this is not a broad-based movement. It is a congregation of our most egregious kooks.

Alberta separatist leader Mitch Sylvestre starts railing against the “new world order and globalism” on CBC News Network’s live broadcast just now

Just voted in an advance poll for The Dumbest Referendum. FWIW, there was no line, so don't let a fear of waiting stop you, fellow Albertans.

I'm watching the Riders-Als game on RDS even though my French is still at a level where I get a bit excited if I understand a complete sentence in real time. I still prefer it to TSN most of the time.

All prisoners should have the right to vote while in prison

Taniel@taniel.bsky.social

Arguably the biggest democracy referendum next month: Virginia is one of only three states where the state constitution says people should lose their right to vote FOR THEIR ENTIRE LIFE if they are convicted of any felony. This measure would allow anyone to vote after prison.

LCF.ca a réintégré le jeu par jeu dans le radar du match, et il est maintenant entièrement en français! Il traduit « yards » par « mètres », mais c’est mieux que rien.

Getting tired of this curse that makes it so no one is ever convinced by any statement I make, but everyone is somehow always convinced by any question I ask, as if it were a statement.

O Canada Terre de native land Ton front est love In all of glorieux Car ton bras sait hearts We see thee rise Il sait porter and free From histoire est une O Canada We stand brillants exploits Et keep our land de foi and free Protégera nos foyers guard for thee O Canada, we stand on et nos droits

Canadians: “America, you’re in real trouble and it’s going to take a shit-ton of work to fix your country.” Americans: “You’re saying mandate wrong.”

Max Fawcett@maxfawcett.bsky.social

This is the part many Americans -- including the Bezosites at the Washington Post -- don't understand. Canadians don't see this just as a Trump thing. It's that America elected him twice, and the second time with an even bigger mandate. The problem we're addressing is America, not Trump.

I've known @maxfawcett.bsky.social for many years and admired his work and sometimes worried a bit about his willingness to pick fights with randos on the internet, so I'm startled to learn that it's his mildly colloquial use of the term "mandate" that has seemingly all of US Bluesky in a tizzy

"Out of spite for President Donald Trump, Carney is accelerating the decoupling of a trade bloc that has generated enormous prosperity for North America." Seriously, Wapo editorial - you're going with Canadian spite? www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Yeah, that one that you circled. Look, you can quibble about the word "mandate" if you want, but the fact is that Americans elected an obvious madman, then elected him again even after a coup attempt. As peoples, we share a lot. But as countries, Canada has to assume that America cannot be trusted.
