Tech exec Maury Blackman's lawyers are in court right now trying to censor a journalist who reported on Blackman's domestic violence arrest. It's just the latest censorship tactic he's employed. Read more here:

In comparison, a similar bill was brought up before the House earlier this year. There was much less organizing against it and it got further then. Today’s vote was a very different story. The attention + organizing played a role. If you can thank your rep for voting NO, please do so. It matters.

What’s funny about this headline, MPD can continue with each and every so called reform if they had the will to do so. The only thing that dries up is the federal money gravy train. You see, police departments use reforms as a way to extract more money from the public

Goodreads is owned by Amazon & there is an AMAZING alternative‼️ The StoryGraph is a black women-owned competitor to GoodReads with better UI in my opinion. When you sign up you can even transfer your data from Goodreads to StoryGraph!

I love seeing all the library support, but here's some realistic ways to help, from a former public librarian: - Circulate materials. Budget is often based on circ not only overall, but genre/category as well - Volunteer as a shelver if that's something they do - Don't "donate" your old crappy books

You are up to date.
