Mamdani is trying to prevent New York’s power grid from failing, you idiot. 78° by choice is a lot better than 100° without electricity.

At 250, America should be old enough to remember what it is made of, and who made it.

1/10 On the cusp of America's 250th birthday, the Supreme Court upheld birthright citizenship. A small sunbeam through a storm-dark sky, reminding us of the promise we must meet. What follows is drawn from one young person's Letter to America…

I'm standing with the @uaw.org child care workers at Square One who are on strike in Springfield, MA. All parties need to negotiate in good faith so that workers get fair wages and Square One can continue supporting kids and families.

There’s no end in sight to Trump’s illegal war on Iran, but Republicans are focused on pushing $70 billion more in ICE funding across the finish line.

I would NOT be here if it were not for miscarriage management. I was fortunate that these draconic laws were not in place. I was fortunate that I had a ER doctor & an amazing nurse who cared for me and admitted me to the hospital. I am fortunate to be alive. Every female DESERVES care.

If you work hard and play by the rules, you should be able to buy a home here in Massachusetts. We’re opening the door a little wider — making more families than ever before eligible for $25,000 in zero-interest help for first-time homebuyers.

In 1998, a court decided that a woman's denim jeans meant she must have consented to being raped. This horrifying ruling inspired Denim Day, a day for sexual violence awareness and solidarity with survivors.

Today’s SCOTUS ruling is a betrayal of our basic democratic values as a country—turning back the clock on hard-won civil rights victories. This isn’t just about Louisiana; this will have nationwide impacts on Congressional districting and voter representation for generations.

Thousands of young people are alive today thanks to the 988 suicide hotline for LGBTQ+ youth. Last year, Trump shut it down. But we fought back, and forced Trump to reverse course. This is a good step, but we still have a long way to go to make every kid in America feel safe.

Today’s Supreme Court ruling guts the Voting Rights Act and turns back the clock on the foundational promise of equality and fairness in our election systems.

Time and time again, SCOTUS’ conservative supermajority has ruled on the side of the wealthy and powerful over American voters. From Citizens United to today’s ruling in Louisiana v. Callais, the Roberts Court will be remembered as one of the most destructive in our nation’s history.

Here’s my piece on the “now-completed demolition” of the Voting Rights Act in @thenation.com The VRA is the most important piece of legislation in American history. It more than anything is what ended American-style apartheid. And now Republicans have killed it.

thenation.comThe Supreme Court Has Completed Its Quest to Kill the Voting Rights ActIn its 6-3 decision, the court gutted the legislation that ended apartheid in this country—and once again gave white people the ability to suppress Black political power.

42 Democrats just joined 192 Republicans to reauthorize FISA Section 702 – a warrantless surveillance law that's been used to access Americans' data. Democratic leadership did not whip their members, enabling them to vote with Republicans and give Trump the surveillance powers.

Republicans continue to fail the American people over and over. Their budget bill will not lower Americans’ costs. Instead, they’re CHOOSING to give $70 billion to an out-of-control ICE that puts Americans in danger.

For too long, bureaucracy kept 7 child care centers across our city empty — spaces that should have been alive with laughter instead collected dust. We've run through that red tape. This fall, all 7 will open their doors, bringing an additional 240 free 3-K seats & real relief to working families.
