Avi Lewis: "People in this country have rallied around our PM in the face of an external threat. Canadians have handed him the keys to our country, not so he can hand them over to foreign investors and those in our country who already have way too much."

Corporate captured Carney is further right than the CPC...

rice gang rise up

We like to romanticize pasta dishes as comfort meals, but we really need to romanticize rice dishes in a similar way, y’all have been sleeping on rice and it’s time to wake up.

Begging some very “left podcasts” to at least drop the Shopify ads. No ethical podcast ads under capitalism or whatever but that guy specifically sucks in a real disgusting manner.

Tech Won’t Save Us@techwontsave.us

Narcissistic billiionaires like Elon Musk and Shopify CEO Tobi Lutke have deluded themselves into believing they represent normal people. @rachelgilmore.bsky.social joined @parismarx.com to discuss how Shopify is pushing right-wing politics in Canada. Full ep: techwontsave.us/episode/340_...

I mean, it literally says "inspired by the discipline and functionality of the Starship Troopers uniform." You cannot get more on the nose than that.

Mark Carney has decided humanity's future is not as important as the oil industry's current profits. It's as simple as that. He's not a complete fool, he knows what's coming if we don't decarbonize as quickly as possible, and he's rejected that path in favour of a decade of high oil revenues.

Environmental groups say there’s a reason why the federal government quietly released its latest climate report, which finds that average temperatures in Canada are set to go up by at least 3.5 C by the end of the century.

where is the public tipping point? what will it take for a majority of canadians to recognize that far from being our defender and saviour, carney and his agenda are a menace to our country’s—and the planet’s—survival?

WTF is wrong with people?

Elizabeth Jacobs, PhD@elizabethjacobs.bsky.social

Parents refusing the vitamin K shot for their newborns has increased by 57% in 2026 alone. This puts their babies at risk for brain and GI bleeds. Rate of refusal is higher for girls than boys, as some hospitals won’t circumcise male infants unless they’ve had the shot. RFK Jr. caused this.

That right has been taken from Albertans today and will be taken province by province if we do not hold this government to account. There was a clear promise made to Canadians and it is time the Prime Minister kept a single promise he made to us. #cdnpoli #polcan

Canadian Prime Minister–designate Mark Carney: "The Americans want our resources, our water, our land, our country. If they succeeded, they would destroy our way of life. In America, healthcare is big business. In Canada, it is a right."

Seems bad for the leaders of an extremely powerful country to be convinced that absolutely every international interaction is a zero-sum game that they must win through superior strength and hostility.

This was posted by the US department of Interior. It shows the deranged viciousness of the administration on our border. We are staring down a klepto psychopath who is being egged on at every level by the power structure of the USA. They aren't joking. Canada we stand on guard for thee.

As a general rule that applies not only to charitable giving but to many areas is that reducing transaction costs is by default good. A flaw of libertarianism is the assumption that government adds transaction costs when it's actually a powerful reducer of them when used correctly.

The reason you want an actual humanitarian aid system and *don’t* want to force everybody to rely on online mutual aid is because online mutual aid *forces people experiencing horrific trauma* to perform on the Internet for survival.

The 3rd day of russia's non-stop attacks on Kyiv and the region already claimed the lives of a 2yo girl in the Obolon district and a 14yo girl in Boryspil. 37 people were murdered last night. It's despicable how this russian massacre is allowed to escalate with full impunity.

Damn, dude. You're telling me that when you join a fascist movement you run the risk of having the state apparatus turned against you in a factional dispute? This is the first I'm hearing of this.

Sorry chatbot lovers but the waning of Boolean operators in most search functions on websites has made my life actively worse. You can't find anything, you can only have things suggested to you.

great way of translating how tech is inherently political, not just a tool

Raphael van Lierop 🇨🇦@raphlife.bsky.social

Techbros seem to love Tolkien, so here's an analogy to help you understand what genAI is. GenAI is The One Ring. You think your use is justified, b/c you don't have evil in your heart. But it came from evil, it is intended for evil purpose, & anything you do with it will be twisted to that end.

Every single second, the world hands $6,000 to the fossil fuel industry in subsidies. That’s $5 TRILLION every year. Renewables? Barely a fraction of that. We are literally paying to cook our own planet. When does this madness stop? 🌍💸 #ClimateCrisis #FossilFuels
