good riddance. although disney taking over some of its assets scares me. I guess they want Elsa to be able to coax kids into suicide.

How to defeat tech billionaire power? Look at Solano County. When billionaires invaded their community with plans to build a "tech utopia," Democrats AND Republicans banded together to fight back. In a triumph of local democracy, they stopped the project...for now. 🎁 www.wsj.com/us-news/sili...

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

I watched the first few minutes and it was also just painfully unfunny. didn't even follow joke structures. just "haha I'm fat and horny for women who are also whores." Common conservative comedy L.

Introducing The Stories We Tell podcast! Episode 1 is available now, featuring @xriskology.bsky.social. We talk about effective altruism, TESCREAL, and the latest wave of doomerism kicked off by Jacob Coxon quitting Anthropic.

open.substack.comAI’s “Existential Risk” is Not What You ThinkListen now (77 mins) | About a month ago, Jacob Coxon sent shockwaves through the world with his dramatic proclamation that AI could wipe out humanity in the next ten years.

I've been doing lots of interviews for my past several videos, as you've probably noticed. I'd until now been posting the full conversation to Patreon, and using bits and pieces in the videos. So I figured since I was already basically making a podcast, I might as well... make it a podcast. Enjoy!

the real resentment for me is that you can say "we should get rid of billionaires" to an audience of millions & that counts for less than saying "we should make billionaires kings" to an audience of 3 billionaires

No two words send AI industry advocates into fits of rage more than "stochastic parrots." The question is: Why? Today I saw the new 4 hour documentary Musk, directed by Alex Gibney. There were too many times to count that a sold out theater burst out laughing at Elon Musk, something he said or did, even sometimes just how he looked. I believe that is his worst nightmare come to life.

Two thing can be true. The WH kicking out media it doesn’t like is absolutely a First Amendment violation. And There is little journalism of value to be found in the highly controlled, substance-free halls of power—wall-to-wall navel-gazing about one’s access probably being of the least value.

"The danger of AI, therefore, is not an emergent superintelligence, but the very fact that AI’s supposed “intelligence” is used as a shield from accountability. The danger is the new Cold War arms race, where AI dominance means geopolitical power and a re-entrenchment of American hegemony."

This NRA reference is also used by Latour! And I tend to agree with him: we need to look at the full "system," which includes the mechanisms, but also users, designers, bureaucracies, labor, economics. "The machine did this" hides that; "the process produced this" has to surface it.
