He's going to get a lot of flack for this from right-wingers who themselves imposed the same cost on critics of Charlie Kirk.

The entire GOP political platform rides on an assumption that American are too dumb to know what the words “grift” and “impunity” mean.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

Obama talking about El-Sayed's arms one time is homoerotic. Trump about Husted's ass repeatedly is not. This is self-evident and logical. Beyond question.

D.C. United wants the city to pitch in $300 million to help add 8,000 seats and a roof on Audi Field, saying it would expand the number of events there. Critics say it's an unnecessary public subsidy, and the Washington Spirit is an X factor in the debate: www.washingtonsun.com/metro/audi-f...

Republican bigotry against Muslims is a threat to the entire IRF enterprise. Can the US government be an effective advocate for int'l religious freedom when the Party running that government is actively hostile toward a particular religion? Views my own: unexemptional.substack.com/p/gops-anti-...

Yeah. The (ginormous) lesson learned here is that if you start by basing your policy on principles of international law, you don’t end up with the human and reputational costs of ignoring it, only to later look like an idiot for acknowledging it long after the damage is done.

Quantitative research would show that the politics of Abdul El-Sayed and Ilham Omar are far more distant from the Muslim Brotherhood than Donald Trump’s are from the Nazi Party.

Sen. Dan Sullivan, who chairs a China Commission that reports on how the CCP subverts rule of law to stay in power, is relying on his Party Leader to subvert rule of law in order to stay in power.

Blanche on CBS says his suit against Alaska is "asking the court to step in where the Alaska Supreme Court didn't, which is to look at federal law and if necessary to allow a process for Alaska to decide who should be certified as the winner." (So, the voters won't get to decide. Got it.)

The Administration that is actively undermining academic freedom at American universities has suddenly decided to revive an old (and largely sidelined) tool of another authoritarian government used to undermine academic freedom. Hmm.

Remember, there was a reason that SCOTUS was explicit that Bush v Gore did not establish precedent.

Eric Columbus@ericcolumbus.bsky.social

Here’s the relevant language in the DOJ lawsuit. It asks for the election not to be certified if Peltola’s margin of victory is smaller than the number of votes cast for the third-party Sullivan. (I expect this to be laughed out of court.) storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Presumably because these Daughters didn’t invite the descendants of Muslims who fought in the American Revolution to join their group.

There are hundreds if not thousands of Republican staffers and lobbyists who eat in DC restaurants who could disprove this. But they’re too chicken shit to defend the city they live and/or work in. Cadres must not cross the Leader.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "In Washington, all the restaurants were closing. People were being held up. They'd walk into a restaurant. Like Jesse James. 'Stand up! Give us all your money.' They're eating dinner at a fancy restaurant. All the restaurants were closing."

Federal courts don’t have jurisdiction over state election certification. Also 🚨🔥🚨🔥🚨🔥

The Trump administration is asking a federal court to block certification of Alaska’s Senate election if the GOP incumbent, Dan S. Sullivan, loses. The Justice Dept. argued that confusion over another candidate with a similar name could taint the result. nyti.ms/4i5q8I4

💯 me too.

The age of Trump has made me more small-c conservative in some senses, insofar as I have come to believe cultivation of standards of decorum rooted in restraining some impulses is actually important for public life. But that's a form of conservatism that makes me more alienated by MAGA than ever.

The Impunity Agenda is a key heuristic for understanding the Trump Administration agenda. Here, they are more than willing to deny justice for others (victims of genocide) in order to deny any possibility, or even argument for, that they might themselves be brought to justice.

Trump “asked.” Just like Reagan asked Gorbachev to tear down that wall. If these manly Republican strongmen were as macho as their rhetoric portrays them to be, they’d do it themselves, rather than being someone’s bitch and have to ask.
