It’s just so appalling and enraging how casual and commonplace this has become. I’m out of words.

Here’s something you should know about minks: They have lungs and airways remarkably similar on a cellular level to those of people. They’ve spread flus and infected humans before with COVID-19. Right now, bird flu is spreading on a Utah farm filled with thousands of them… 🧵

A landmarks board member opposing this because it “maximizes housing” should be grounds for immediate removal. @mayor.seattle.gov should step in. These seats are all mayoral selections. Remove this guy

A retrofit to build a new mass-timber addition above the Doyle Building at 2nd Avenue and Pine Street has added six floors since the Seattle Landmarks Board saw it last year. That change is only likely to intensify opposition. Story: www.theurbanist.org/downtown-hig...

Definitely one of the most memorable matches for me. Felt like we finally truly arrived right then and winning an MLS cup felt inevitable (eventually). You might say sure, every team will eventually win...but I'm also a Mariners fan, so.

#OTD 2014 – Before 57,673, Sounders get two late goals from sub Marco Pappa to top LA Galaxy 2-0 to claim Supporters' Shield and club-record 20th win. It’s scoreless until Pappa strikes at 85'. He scores again 5 min into stoppage time. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiiD...

Pretty fantastic day in downtown Seattle. Felt like world cup vibes a bit with the market bursting at the seams with people and energy.

The Sound Transit board is about to vote on a 2027 service plan that starts 2 Line service 25 minutes later every day and ends it 15 minutes earlier Mon-Saturday to provide more time for system maintenance. Claudia Balducci jumped in to say that the agency's goal should be running trains 24/7.

Fellow WA voters, let's bury this. I can't imagine any parent wants to subject their child to this vile "examination."

Doctors and nurses are voicing their objections. I-638 would require EVERY girl who wants to participate in sports to go through biological sex verification. That means expensive, invasive, and utterly gross examinations. Protect our kids and let them play. Vote NO on I-638

New data: Good news! Sales at Pike Place Market are up $7.5 million so far this year compared to the same time period in 2025 (Jan-Sep). Keep visiting and supporting market businesses, and tell them you support restricting unnecessary car traffic on Pike Place.

New data: Good news! Spring sales at Pike Place Market were also up in 2026 compared to 2025, about ~5%!

ICE has to be dismantled, with every single incident like this investigated and prosecuted.

Eric Umansky@ericumansky.bsky.social

Watch an ICE agent run down and then run over a man. The man was was then writhing on the ground, saying "You broke my leg! You broke my leg!" Agents didn't help him. And btw, the man wasn't the target of their operation.

National soccer media needs to do a better job covering what’s going on in Austin. Entire fan section walks out mid match and it’s absolute crickets out-there. If you’re covering the match and focusing on Nashville’s win or Austin’s loss you are not doing your job.

October is low-key one of the best months in Seattle. The sky is a certain shade of blue on sunny days that you only get in the early fall.

Gordon Padelford@gordonofseattle.bsky.social

It’s a beautiful October day at Pike Place Market! Inviting all car traffic back Monday through Thursday was a mistake, that we should fix for next year.

I probably should be more worried about this. I mean, I think we’ll know there’s been fraud if the Republicans continue to hold the House, that feels pretty likely. The Senate is on enough of a knife’s edge that I imagine any efforts made there will be harder to detect.

The Tennessee Holler @thetnholler.bsky.social

The alarmists have yet to be wrong 😕🇺🇸

I'm not sure how, but we need to be ready for this level of solidarity very quickly in this country. We should have already done this for gun violence in schools, and obviously we also have staffing and infrastructure issues that seem minor comparatively.

The New York Times@nytimes.com

Demonstrations swept across France on Tuesday as labor unions rallied in solidarity with high school students who have spent two weeks blockading schools to protest understaffing, overcrowded classrooms and dilapidated buildings. Follow live. nyti.ms/4hyu0RB

It's late January 2027, Minnesota has won the national championship. And Washington is runner up with their two losses to Minnesota. Book it. 😂 Couldn't agree more that it feels like that's a team that actually wants to be there and play for their school. Hopefully the Dawgs learn from that.

Ownership says the stadium situation is untenable. The ownership situation actually feels like the lever that needs to be changed. If they can't get a deal done with better terms in Lumen, and their fallback is a small stadium in Renton, they absolutely need to sell the team.

AP@interpearsonal.bsky.social

The Seattle area just showed we are a top market for soccer in the country at the World Cup. The low-spending Sounders, in a league of Messi and Son, are still top 3 in league streaming viewership and attendance. The owner’s biggest idea is moving to a 25k seat stadium in a Renton business park.

This is bigger than the name of the city that comes before @soundersfc.com. This is about whether you choose to abandon a city and a neighborhood that has done nothing but embrace you. Entire communities would be excluded from attending by moving to Renton. Remember, you are stewards of this club.

Just a couple more of these in a row and that's a pretty decent Sounders stadium right downtown 😂

Push The Needle@pushtheneedle.bsky.social

This building in the heart of downtown is half empty and just sold for an -87% loss. What can you do with it?

Tom Glanz reposted

To this point, a follow up to Hanauer should be ‘what are you asking for in a lease agreement?’

spcinsea.bsky.social@spcinsea.bsky.social

The gov’t, not the hawks, owns Lumen. Why aren’t the Sounders positioning their needs as a request/demand of that entity for more equitable treatment? I know “First and Goal” is the master tenant but was the stadium built with the idea soccer would get a fair shake or always as just a sub tenant?

Tom Glanz reposted

Replying to @stumptoemerald.bsky.social

Owners should be fixated on getting back to an average of 43k per game and not moving to a small stadium that couldn’t support anything close to that.

Rest of king county now please!! We get 1-2 new fees added per year and sometimes they even try without updating the lease! Pet, amenities, utility (even though yes, we also pay for utilities), pest control. Absurd

We banned rental junk fees! Starting July 1st, 2027, the price you see is the price you pay — no pet rent, no admin fees, no lease renewal fees. Step by step, we’re building an affordable Seattle.
