I’m asked all the time, of my former Republican colleagues, who’s worse - the MAGA crazy true believers like Ron Johnson, or Republicans who are not MAGA crazy true believers like Marco Rubio. And I always say Republicans like Rubio. Because Rubio knows better, and he still willingly sold his soul.
A stuttering Marco Rubio: “Nobody ordered that Starlink speed to be slowed down. It sorta happened.”

Do you know how hard it is to lose the war if you're the United States? It's about as unlikely as bankrupting a casino.
Chris Murphy: "Donald Trump was so fundamentally unprepared for this war that within days of the war starting, our billion dollar air bases and naval bases in the region were obliterated by the Iranians. Every single American should be furious about that."

Ossoff is acting like Trump/MAGA/GOP and what they’ve done to the country is Actually Bad. Charismatic and well spoken, which sure helps. But no “my friends across the aisle,” no acting like the imaginary “Baileys” are the only ones who matter, no “don’t talk values, only kitchen table.” That’s it.
Figuring out why Ossoff is so effective is an interesting task. I think he's mastering a kind of stern dignity that is uniquely compelling in contrast to the clownish cruelty of the other side. I think the other person who's kind of hit on the same thing is AOC, though in a different register

And here I thought the U.S. was the world's biggest oil exporter and we didn't need it from anyone. Isn't that what he's been saying?
Trump: "I think you heard about the oil deal with Russia. That is a big deal. That is massive amounts of oil coming into our country, and I want to thank President Putin to be honest with you."

This is how our government has been corrupted: 1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians 2) Elected officials rewrite rules in donors' favor 3) Donors make huge gains 4) Repeat This is why we must get Big Money out of politics — and support the candidates who will fix the system.
20 years ago the top 15 political spenders put less than $15 million into the midterms. Then Citizens United was decided. Now, just 170 billionaire families have spent $1.7 BILLION on the 2026 midterms. Just in case you wondered why the economy only seems to work for the rich.

The evidence mounts that Trump picked Hegseth because he knew he was mentally disturbed enough to order American troops to fire on American citizens.
Hegseth: "Today, at my direction, I'm establishing the Office of Religious Affairs. It will report straight to the top -- a direct line to the secretary ... as Psalm 33:12 extolls us, blessed is the nation in which God is the Lord"

Remember: Trump's attacks on the IRS were never about "efficiency." They were about making it easier for wealthy and powerful people like him to skirt what they owe.
The Trump administration is not publishing data on the gap in unpaid taxes. The most recent estimate of this tax gap was $700 billion in 2022. After severe IRS staff cuts and fewer audits on the wealthy, this gap has likely grown under Trump. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/16/b...
On John Coltrane's 100th birthday, let's celebrate with one of the wildest musical rides ever. The first time I heard "Giant Steps", I thought "How can any human play this?" It's supersonic, yet every note is perfect. In the hands of 'Trane it's a thing of beauty.

We really have to consider the possibility that we elected the dumbest motherfucker in America. Twice. Do better, people.
Trump: "If I'm in an electric boat and I see I'm going down and the water is pouring in, so I know I'm going to be electrocuted, but 5 yards away there are sharks. Do I take the electrocution or do I go swimming with the sharks? I'll take the electrocution."

Imagine an American president lying about 9/11. Actually, you don’t have to.
Trump claims he was basically lifted out of the rubble on 9/11: "Two fireman, big strong guys, they grabbed me under the arms -- 'got to get our of here!' -- and they literally lifted me up, and they started running with me."
