Good to see Cllr McInness point out that the city's overall active travel plan should not be determined by pockets of objectors in the wealthier parts of the city.

For 5 years the Greenbank to Meadows Quiet Route has been a safe route through residential streets and past several schools, but today the pro-car lobby groups might get their way to be able to rat-run through our streets again due to council errors. www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/edinbur...

The TRO that will discuss remedying the Greenbank-Meadows quite route debacle is on Tuesday (12th) at 2pm. There will be a rally outside the City Chambers from 12:30pm to 2pm to show support. Everyone welcome! #Edinburgh #Cycling

Without a doubt, this MUST come back to the Transport Committee and not just be thrown away by TRO Sub. We cannot lose miles of safe route to paperwork incompetence. The south of the city has too little else for safe cycling.

⚠️ An updated report for TRO Sub-committee finds a THIRD erroneously worded filter to remove on on Canaan Lane: https://democracy.edinburgh.gov.uk/documents/s98371/4.1%20-%20Travelling%20Safely%20-%20Braid%20Road%20Comiston%20Road%20and%20Greenbank%20to%20Meadows%20Quiet%20Connection%20ETRO.pdf

As we say in Scotland, “a complete cluster burrach!” Anyone would think political parties would be careful, right in front of an election 🙄

Excellent write-up of the Braid Estate debacle 🧵 Edinburgh’s Transport Ctte calls for permanent Greenbank to Meadows Quiet Route; opponents pressure Council Officers into removing filters anyway Capitulation to loud motoring minority as ‘incorrectly worded’ legal order … edi.bike/articles/202...

We’re currently speechless about the likely loss of a safe route for kids in the Braid Estate When the affluent few can pay a lawyer to find the slightest discrepancy in the paperwork, to kill off a scheme put in place through community action, that is NOT DEMOCRACY!

You going to show some leadership, @stephenjenkinson.bsky.social, and fix this mess, or just follow your predecessor's example and happily wash your hands of it while blaming someone else.

In any other sensible world, when a mistake is made in the paperwork, IT IS FIXED - not by changing the physical world to match the incorrect documents, but by updating the text. Only Edinburgh council could make such a mess of it
