Flag football is a fun low-impact, relatively low-cost sport that has potential to give more options for team sports for girls. Shame it’s made totally fucking unbearable by Girl Dads.
Half the team sits around doing nothing because they forget that the purpose of sports in elementary school is to LET KIDS PLAY AND HAVE FUN ON A TEAM not obsess about winning a game in an INTRAMURAL LEAGUE.

Constantly interrupting the momentum of play for huddles so they can play Vince Lombardi. Ignoring teaching even the most basic fundamentals to focus on elaborate plays that make sense to no one because the girls haven’t been given any foundation. The yelling.
Before sports betting was legalized everywhere, I was neutral about it, thinking that it was a personal choice. Now that it exists everywhere I have been radicalized against it like a 19th century suffragette
The key difference with an established candidate with staffers loyal to the party is that his staffers all quit the campaign as soon as the news came out and he dropped out immediately instead of holding the race hostage. It also didn't take 5 separate scandals to get him to do it.
I’ve avoided a lot of the Platner discourse because it’s a toxic tarpit, but I think the notion that the lesson here is primarily about either one political faction or something essential about “unvetted” newcomers, sits in some considerable tension with the entire Eric Swalwell experience.
They have 5 days and Platner still hasn’t dropped out and we’re handwringing about Dems not finding a miracle option that would magically make everyone happy AND is actually feasible. Wreckers delenda est.
I'm excited to be dragged into the pit of no return by the hogs on Bluesky for believing people make mistakes and can change. The SA allegations are awful. Please crucify me.
BREAKING: Graham Platner said he is “taking the time to reflect on the best path forward” for his candidacy minutes after POLITICO reported that a woman who dated him said he forced her to have sex with him, which he denies.

perhaps we should view nazi tattoos as disqualifying from here on out. i kind of assumed we'd already view them as disqualifying but was unpleasantly surprised so maybe from here we could all agree not to downplay nazi tattoos since they seem pretty indicative of broad disregard for human dignity
"Denying his condition" he's old and his voice sounded icky on one night and you people have been insane about it for two years now! There is no evidence that he is actually suffering any kind of significant cognitive decline and he continues to make public appearances where he is cogent!
Meanwhile the actual sitting president is incoherent, visibly falling asleep anytime he's sitting for longer than five minutes, erratic, apparently receiving frequent cognitive assessments, and getting tons of secretive medical care that his staff won't acknowledge and reporters won't ask about!
“Texas Democrats’ failure to calibrate on abortion serves as a microcosm for what’s happened to abortion politics in the party writ large,” the journalist Zaid Jilani writes.
The Boston Globe is reporting that Seth Moulton was booed at Pride today: "You can't come here and act like you support our community when you're blaming our kids for losing the election"
The "well at least if he wins he'll vote like a normie dem" people are delusional. The man has had two consistent political beliefs his entire life: white supremacy and male supremacy. You are in fantasy land if you think the recent heel turn to leftism is permanent just because you agree with it.
Biggest MA senate primary takeaway from the convention was Markey’s sizzle was a diverse group of community leaders talking about his record of action showing up for others and passing progressive laws, and Moulton’s was clips of him being interviewed on tv.
I have lots of criticisms of Markey, but I would literally vote for a haunted doll possessed by his spirit in a primary before that transphobic, ICE-loving, conspiracy theorist rat fucker who would sell his own grandmother for a vote.
Also Moulton was giving out tote bags that said “Our Fight Can’t Wait” which is an interesting message for a guy who was voting to praise ICE less than a year ago. Can the fight not wait or did you just realize the fight was happening, Seth?

It's really important that Seth Moulton isn't just eating shit, but he's eating shit specifically because he tried to get Democrats to abandon trans kids.
And the way to get rid of Platner is for Maine primary voters to not vote for a violent chud with a nazi tattoo! If they choose him that's on them, not on anyone else!
I just want to add, since this is breaking containment, that this can't be made right. these people, each one a whole universe, are gone. there can only be justice for the perpetrators; public remorse & restitution; & reform to ensure future aid systems are more just and less prone to imperial whims
“The dismantling of USAID, according to models from Boston University epidemiologist Brooke Nichols, “has already caused the deaths of six hundred thousand people, two-thirds of them children,” Gawande wrote.” hsph.harvard.edu/news/usaid-s...

One would think as avowed leftists they would think it’s bad that the former symbols of tyrannical monarchy that had been reappropriated for the people were stolen to be shoved into some rich asshole’s private collection and yet…
Republicans got a trifecta and invented a mandate and spent the first two years of Trump's term manically occupied with dismantling as much of the government and killing as many people as humanly possible, why are we continuing to pretend withholding appropriations would be considered a punishment?
It's way past the point where people need to start getting it through their heads that Republicans, to a person, are ontologically evil and that any solution predicated on appealing to their innate sense of morality or belief in the republic will fail.
I don't have it in me to game out whether this is politically viable in the current context, but it's absolutely a structural solution to the lack of confidence votes in the American system.
Knock yourself out arguing the politics in the replies, I will be muting this immediately lol.
TODAY, the day the whole party is sitting around with their thumbs up their asses while their president is casually threatening nuclear genocide and the great thinkers are still like "surely there is a way for Democrats to simply mommy hard enough to make daddy Republicans eat their vegetables?"
