Steven Colbert introduced us to ‘truthiness’. we need a word for lies to unbelievable, obviously, blatantly false that normal humans are just stuck in a WTF?? loop and the idiot supporters lap it up. perhaps, ‘mendatrosity’

Out of religious modesty, women wore the "pilgrim hats" properly 'capotains' (which never had buckles), some of which were flat-topped, other sugarloaf. I guess we can't rule out pointy versions, but it's probably a historical misunderstanding. "Witches" were just well-dressed older women.

I live in a rural town and, like, I don't know how to tell you this, but the girls play on the boys team and vice versa all the time because otherwise we don't have enough players for a game and it's literally always fine so stop being weirdos about kids sports and just let trans kids play.

The law also makes clear that “a person shall not be considered to have gained a residence in any election district of this State into which he comes for temporary purposes only, without the intention of making such election district his permanent place of abode.” (link below)

Well, well, well…. An analysis of voter registration records reveals Republican operative Scott Presler had 3 out-of-state voters use his Pennsylvania address to vote in the 2024 election. This is what voter fraud looks like.

This will provide a ‘prosecute these individuals’ list to the states.

Print this on an index card, stick it in your pocket, and take it to the polls with you when you vote. 18 US Code §592: Troops at Polls, prohibited by law. [You can copy the text in the Alt-txt box directly.]

we gotta bring back shame, man society doesn’t work real well without consequences for being an enormous piece of shit in public

Don’t tax wealth. Tax income. But, all income. ALL. Including loans that hide income. Including present value of stock grants at time of grant.

Most billionaire wealth isn't in yachts or jewelry — that's just a few percent of it. Most is productive business capital: companies that employ people, build things, and fund research. Tax that wealth and you're taxing the businesses that employ us all. Cato's Adam Michel explains.

the "stock fluffing propaganda" worked for about an hour this morning as the pigs lined up for the slaughterhouse ramp

Karl Bode@karlbode.com

Musk's "flying car," in case there's any doubt, will never actually see any sort of meaningful commercial launch and exists entirely as stock-fluffing propaganda aimed at the U.S. tech media's unlimited supply of credulous dopes

I got covid (Pfizer) and flu (double) shots yesterday afternoon. Body aches started about 3pm, now I’m up and I feel like I’ve been beaten with baseball bats. I know this will keep me from serious illness this winter, but combo of age and formula is hitting me this year

A lot of people have been asking questions about the Yandex data center bombing and Russian bot trolls... and I figured eventually we'd get some more expert analysis... Sounds like the story wasn't really true:

Kate Starbird@katestarbird.bsky.social

Y’all, I hate to rain on the dead bot parade, but the Yandex data center destruction doesn’t seem to have significantly impacted social media bots. I made temporal graphs of X posts about AfD around the time of the attack and there’s no sign of a sudden dip or residual impact on that conversation.
