“How much more evidence is necessary to assess that Trump has undermined US national security and is working for Russia? And how much longer will Republicans in Congress continue to protect him?” Bracing read today from @hcrichardson.bsky.social heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/october-10...

heathercoxrichardson.substack.comOctober 10, 2026So now, after more than a decade of pretending that he is not associated with Russia and that he would honor the U.S.

Raskin made a holy shit observation on MS Now this afternoon: Since taking office, Trump has made a million dollars per hour for himself. Every hour, he has made more than twice the president’s annual salary.

Vote the GOP out of office before they kill you.

Scoop: The EPA is expected to formally rescind carbon pollution standards for fossil fuel-fired power plants as soon as Monday, according to people familiar with the matter. Tag team with @bloomberg.com’s Ari Natter and Jen Dlouhy. Gift link: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

This whole “is the claim ripe? nope!” Position of John Roberts makes me think of an asteroid headed our way. We would not be able to defend ourselves, in his reasoning, because no harm had come to us. “But it will annihilate our planet!” “Nope, you can’t act to defend from it- no harm yet.” Ugh.

Generally I avoid speculating on my posts. However the administration’s actions are obviously benefiting Russia, China and N Korea. Abandoning drone research, repelling foreign students, backing away from military exercises…I ask, could these clowns be that compromised?

Before you vote for a candidate who supports increasing our military budget, ask why they do. No country will invade us-too far, too expensive, etc. Then, do you really want our soldiers to fight wars overseas? We are at war today-cyber war, trade war, but kinetic war is not what we should spend $ on

Dear Media, please stop quoting climate deniers. The mountain of science contradicts their unsupported claims. Out world is on fire. Report the cause - a warming planet.

Heard that Congress is worried about Soc Sec running out of money in 6 years. Oddly, the solution is easy! Stop taking on more and more debt. Stop increasing the military budget and shrink it instead.

Memo to Cornyn, Cassidy and Tillis: just disappear like Mitch. Leave town and be absent for votes. You won’t be “crossing” Trump, you will be out “sick.” Your staff will report you are recovering slowly. No Blanche and no trillion dollar defense budget.

With COVID we had to be patient. Life took a long time to return to a new normal. With Trump, we have to be patient and there will be a new normal. The third challenge to each of us is that patience will not get us through a period of global warming. Vote for those who acknowledge need for action.

It's a terrible rule tho retroactively the rule would have been nice, it would've gotten Elon Musk expelled from the country before he could do much damage. (And in any event he should be denaturalized and deported; he lied about his immigration status history to obtain citizenship.)

David J. Bier@davidjbier.bsky.social

Foreign students won't be allowed to complete multiple undergrad or grad degrees. What an utterly pointless rule. We don't want overeducated immigrants in America, apparently.

A day later and I still cannot believe how badly Teuchel’s changes worked out. After Argentina scored the first goal, change tactics, man!

Jay Clayton is Trump’s nominee to serve as Director of National Intelligence. As the U.S. Attorney in Manhattan, he just issued a subpoena to the New York Times over its Air Force One reporting - a brazen act intended to intimidate a free press. We can imagine how he’d abuse his power as DNI.

nytimes.comTimes Journalists Subpoenaed as Trump Escalates Pressure on MediaThe Justice Department is seeking to compel testimony from reporters who wrote about the new Air Force One. The Times called the move a “brazen act.”

Dear mainstream media: could you publish a scorecard of politicians accused of sexual assault, fraud, and adultery across the country? Columns for republicans and democrats. Yes, Platner was a good story for you but my guess is that the republican side will far outnumber the democrats.

This is FALSE. ICE data showed DHS averaging 1,259 deportations/day through April 4. There is ZERO sign deportations rose by 154% since. Mullin also mixes up DHS's (also FALSE) claim that 70% arrested have any criminal record at all, and claims that 70% are felons. Wildly wrong.

As with some other things, i suspect if we have another dem president we will discover that the court did not so much transfer power to the executive as to themselves, ie they will find novel bullshit reasons to block a dem president the same way the find novel bullshit reasons to enable trump

Your daily reminder this should be the biggest scandal in American politics right now but nobody seems to care. Ken Paxton freed a man who raped a boy for 3 years. He also doesnt have to register as a sex offender. www.texastribune.org/2026/05/19/k...

texastribune.orgInside Ken Paxton’s plea deal for a child sex abuse caseCritics are pointing to two other serious felony cases that the attorney general’s prosecutors took to trial that ended in mistrials and, eventually, plea deals.

Especially in this moment, a "private reprimand" "was not a remotely sufficient punishment for the subject judge’s misconduct—not because of the affair, but because of the subject judge’s dishonesty and their transparent attempt to throw one of their own law clerks under the bus." Me @ "One First":

stevevladeck.comBonus 229: Conduct UnbecomingA district judge who conducted an affair in their chambers, lied about it, and threw a clerk under the bus deserved more than a "private reprimand."

Probably a top 5 entry in the Kevin Hassett hall of fame

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Hassett on record low consumer sentiment: "They call it 'consumer sentiment' but I don't think those words mean what they think. The correlation between what independents and Democrats say is almost perfectly correlated. So they've devised a political survey that tells us how Democrats are feeling."
