Chatting just now with local Kent winegrower at farmer's market. This year's grapes are "smaller than peas" - not going to bother to harvest. What did he think of politicians saying 'hey enjoy your English sparkling wine thanks to climate change'? "Fucking morons."

Fun fact: during WWII when Britain was rationing food and wanted to ensure good nutrition for all (which was a big part of the reason for the rationing) - one of the first things they did was decrease beef and lamb production because they knew that high veg diets are a more efficient use of space.

Think of CO₂ removal like a time machine. How far back does planting 100 million trees take us? One mature tree takes up ~25 kg of CO₂/year, so 100 million trees will take up 2.5 MtCO₂. That's a time machine that takes us back ~33 minutes in a year. Nature will not save us from fossil fuel CO₂.
