2. But Anthropic researchers say they see patterns that suggest that Claude can. The employees at Anthropic are telling themselves stories based on the words they input into the software and the words that come back out. >>

There is an argument that some AI-psychosis-sufferers tend to make which I find very gross, stupid, and bad. It goes something like, “the way you are talking about Claude sounds a lot like how they used to talk about [some historically marginalized group], sooo, you better think about that”.

Like there are companies that handle dangerous materials. This isn’t a new concept. When you are one of those, you are supposed to be careful.

If we want to update our priors and not just reaffirm them … what do we think Coxon is responding to that he can’t say out loud? My guess, reading between the lines of “revolutionize any field overnight”: consequential collab between Anthropic and a biotech company that could kick off a land rush.

I like this quote on code review: "The idea that humans will reliably look through code to find the increasingly rare issues that automated tools miss seems like a fantasy." By Marc Brooker, AWS.

- it also fixes async streaming with these more flexible inputs, so your users can see responses as they arrive; - it supports any and all OpenAI SDK versions from 1.95.1 to the latest and greatest 3.x

By the way, Zipcoil is a little Python library I've developed, which helps you connect OpenAI and Azure OpenAI agents to your existing Python functions. It's focused on keeping things simple 'cause I'm too old to keep them complicated.

Now, v0.4.0 does a few things right - mainly, it improves support for nested lists, multiple value types, nullable enums, and dictionaries; they now have correct schemas for OpenAI and Azure OpenAI, and you can use them without fear of retribution;

I wonder if we as a profession, will operate in 10 years similarly to how doctors consult nowadays. Someone'll book a 20-minute slot to talk to me about a new product or similar, I'll jot down as much info as I can about their problem, along with my suggestions.

At the end, they'll leave my office with a SPEC.md of sorts signed with my private key, to hand over to their personal agent to implement. For more complex, or multiple changes they would book another meeting. Or they might book a checkup of the changes in two weeks' time.

But in essence, both our interactions and my input would me significantly more limited than it is now. The more I think about this the less crazy it sounds. Let's see what happens. Thoughts triggered by this very interesting article by @seldo.com -- seldo.com/posts/we-are...

I think a much more urgent and credible threat to either of these, fwiw, is often obfuscated by this discussion: namely *human-directed* hacks using open-weight models.

the risk I think we're sleeping on is that we wirehead ourselves into a "La Belle Dame" state by using coding agents to build increasingly addictive videogames, or inventing conversational partners that people genuinely prefer to other humans

real talk, how many of y’all are genuinely concerned about super intelligent AI ushering in the end of days?

Nuclear opinion: I don’t care if you use AI to write code,¹ but making a human review a change before an LLM is disrespectful. Why am I catching your bugs if a computer could have done it? It’s like asking to review code that doesn’t compile or pass CI. ¹ As long as you do it responsibly.

It makes many online spaces intolerable. If I want to talk to ChatGPT or Claude, I'll just talk to ChatGPT or Claude, I don't need to talk to Claude pretending to be a person with mediocre prompts. You can use AI to help with writing, but you need to actually do some writing to be helped with.

Oh god the discussion in Vancouver is going to be so stupid from all sides. “11 AI agents” is meaningless as a phrase. If I said “I have 11 spreadsheets” or “I have 11 browser tabs” to do my work, it means about the same thing.

In fact, when they take a closer look at how people in the AI group used AI, they find that there is a segment of people who did no worse—and maybe even better—than they might have without the AI: the people who used the AI to ask for hints, rather than simply asking for the solution directly.

The year is 2026. 60-90% of new code is written by AIs at lightning speed. Software productivity (as measured by lines of code 😉) is going through the roof. So anyway, the way to print/save as pdf an email in Outlook for Web on iOS is: 1/whatever

- Open the email in the new desktop-y UI and find, and tap its own corresponding three dots - Scroll down - Print - Print or save as pdf to files 3/4 just changed my mind

- Open Outlook for Web in Safari. Not the PWA, that won’t work, you don’t get the address bar. - Tap the weird computer-y icon to the left of the address bar - Find and tap the three dots button - Tap “Request mobile website”. Otherwise the options below won’t come up :) 2/3 I guess
