#BlackCatDay - Darling Sheba.... Brit blue/Siamese cross.... and, she was often cross! would go from bestest pal to assassin in the blink of an eye.... but, she was loved! if anyone sat down and crossed arms - they would find a large cat sleeping in their arms.... if you move the claws would appear!

Today is officially National #BlackCatDay 😺 A day to raise awareness since they are often overlooked for adoption. Cats Protection charity founded the day to celebrate & debunk any bad luck superstitions surrounding black cats, & hopefully increase their chances of being rescued and loved. #cats

Happy National Black Cat Day! 🐈‍⬛🩷 Today, let's continue to spread the word: the only bad luck following black cats, or any cat, is harmful superstition. All of us who are lucky enough to know and love a black cat have so many reasons to celebrate today!

Great work by Guy and others, which mustn't go to waste. Please respond, however briefly, to this consultation, and help end the feudal tradition of secrecy and exclusion. Democracy dies in darkness.

Could centuries of secrecy about who owns our land soon end? A new government consultation proposes revealing who owns up to 95% of England and Wales. To stop this being blocked by big landowners, I need your help to send in supportive evidence. Here’s how: whoownsengland.org/2026/10/27/c...

So many lovely herons in the world. Here's another: a Javan Pond Heron at Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park in Pranburi, Thailand. For Today's alt #BirdOfTheDay theme of #Grounded, birds standing on the ground. Fun fact, Thailand (size of CA+WV) has 2.4x as many national parks as the U.S. (155 v. 64).

Good morning and welcome to tuna Tuesday Love yourself a little extra right now. You're balancing so much, handling things no one sees, and doing your best. And please remember, even on the days when your best feels like very little, it is still enough.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

The lessons from Brazil and Serbia? Don't concede one inch of ground to the far right. Don't appease. Don't triangulate. Don't grovel. Don't say they have "legitimate concerns". Mobilise your base, and fight them with all the democratic means at your disposal.

Nice to relocate the Hoopoe that flew over our Shetland garden yesterday. A couple of close views as it probed for food around the barns at Brake and away it went. Amazing how something so vivid can be so elusive and vanish so easily! #BirdingScotland #UKbirding #RareBirdsUK #Birds #UKWildlife

I'm SO excited about this. Our streets should be seen as public spaces, not just territory filled by and controlled by cars. I love the idea of Oxford street being a human-centred space, designed around pedestrians. It'll take a while to develop but 🎉🎉🎉 www.theguardian.com/cities/2026/...

Bolsonaro's loss is not just a loss for Bolsonaro. It's a loss for Trump. For Musk. For Milei. For Netanyahu. For Farage. For Meta and Zuckerberg. For the meat barons, the fossil fuel corporations, and the rest of the neocolonial looters. And it is a massive win for humanity and the living planet.

Night night sweet dreamies One day, the moments we barely noticed will become the memories we hold closest. A voice, a laugh, a love we thought would last forever. Life whispers no warning when something becomes a last time. So cherish the little things. They are everything.
