Hey King County: If you just got your fucking ballot into a drop box NOW instead of leaving it on the side table until November 3, this wouldn't be an issue. Last minute voters drive me nuts. Just get it done for once.

The U.S. Department of Justice informed King County Elections Director Julie Wise this week that the administration is sending election monitors for the Nov. 3 midterms. It’s unclear what role federal election monitors will play or how many there will be in King County on Election Day.

If Apple Intelligence could help recognize and filter political messaging, it might actually be worth a shit … but it doesn’t so it isn’t

“Pretty Hurts” and “whatever’s worst” do not rhyme. Possible fixes include subbing “Patty Hearst” or “Colons Burst” in the title line. Alternatively, the second set could become “cotton shirts,” “Hershey squirts,” or “Swoozie Kurtz.” #RhymeSplaining

An interesting thought occurred to me while listening to the Offline podcast today: to what extent is the mass movement to RTO (return to office by big corporations), a function of our crisis of masculinity? Do CEOs feel less manly when they’re not surrounded by subservient workers? Hmmm…

@kuow.org can have my support or they can have Paul Guppy spreading hate on their platform on the regular. They can’t have both.

Interesting detail in this story about a group trying to overturn same-sex marriage, blaming gay people for child sex trafficking and abuse: Their board chair is Paul Guppy, a frequent guest on @kuow.org's Week In Review. WiR often includes a conservative POV, but this is hateful extremism.

Coworkers giddily anticipating, “Maybe the last nice day of the year” and I’m not having it. Sunny October days, one after another, are not normal for Seattle. I crave the misty gray.

Judges whose orders are ignored by the Trump regime need to do more than complain from the bench. They need to throw people in jail.

HAPPENING NOW: Judge Reyes is furious. She has repeatedly told the government to inform her before any major demolition work was done on the golf course. The abrupt removal of 500 trees, without notice, "has cost the government all of its credibility" in this case.

Watch out for these wolves in sheep’s clothing. “Focal News” showed up in my feed today and I am *VERY* suspicious. There seem to be no humans mentioned, stories credited to “staff” rather than identifiable individuals one might look up and verify. This “news” is fucking #Generated

A new 1,800-square-foot space at the Seattle Convention Center is intended to support emergency response and downtown coordination, including possible use by Seattle police. The center says it has no formal agreement with the department, which cannot access its surveillance cameras.

I routinely update my “Sportsless in Seattle” feed to tune results, but some things are always going to slip through. Still, it’s been a useful insight into this city I love, not because I hate sports, but minimizing it reveals a lot of surprises about #Seattle. Try it. bsky.app/profile/did:...

I really wish the opposition would stop celebrating a blue wave that hasn’t happened yet The fascists use everything against us, including our optimism and confidence Polls don’t vote and anything short of massive turnout will leave them openings TURNOUT is the whole ballgame, not polls

Progressives need to be careful about allowing “decentering” to mask exclusion. If white males don’t see themselves reflected in the coalition, they will assume it’s not for them. I’m not advocating Equal Opportunity for the privileged. I’m saying be careful about exclusion and the pull to purity.

My kids have measles, I can't afford gas, my country has been humiliated by Iran, and our senile rapist president is going to allow unregulated AI to destroy our civilization. But a lesbian bar in a town I've never heard of still has a mask mandate. I have never felt more politically homeless.

The one factor that motivates me to move from Adobe InDesign to Canva’s Affinity is the steady barrage of annoying marketing pop-ups @adobe.com shoves into the middle of my daily workflow to nag, nag, NAG me about Express, Firefly and AI assistance. I. Fucking. Hate. Adobe. More. Every. Day.

I hate being in a state of wishing mortal harm upon people who I’ve never met and never will meet in person, but I take absolution in recognizing that desire for harm as the desire for justice, for bullies of the highest order to be humiliated in the same measure that they persecute the powerless.

Your regular reminder -- yes, I'm going to keep on with this -- that Republicans in Congress are just fine with everything he's doing.

Trump: "The Kennedy Center is in a virtual state of collapse, and has been for many years ... unfortunately, the Building is destined to doom. Isn’t that too bad?"

Deck.Blue is the best thing since Twitter shut down its free service. I use it to keep track of my Thinktanks, news, OSINT, official EU news and the feeds of all my mates. I mean.. look at it! It's brilliant for keeping track of everything. To everyone here, give some love to the creator please!

I have challenges falling asleep Drugs help somewhat but imperfectly I’ve tried consciously using “cognitive shuffle” to help fall asleep and had mixed results It occurred to me that an app could easily take the effort completely out of it and sure enough… there are several And OMFG it works

“Trans Rights” in 2026 is like 2024’s “Gaza Genocide:” Issues the right recognizes as core wedge issues on the left EVERYTHING is a potential tool for fascists to retain and gain power Don’t forget it Nothing I said above says anything about the issues mentioned other than how they’re being used

Today’s pointless and pedantic irritation with Apple is in regard to dictation on the Mac. If I dictate, “oh-oh-oh,” why does it transcribe, “zero-zero-zero?” O ≠ 0 “O” (the letter O) is not a number. “0” (the number zero) is not a letter. #Apple #AppleUnintelligence

WELKER: Do you believe President Trump has committed impeachable offenses at this point? RASKIN: Undoubtedly. We don't have time to remotely scratch the surface.

When we moved in, the finished basement needed new carpet as their beloved dog had created a biohazard zone over time. Two dogs of our own later, we understand. Living & working in a city places unreasonable constraints on these animals. If you can’t have a dog door, you shouldn’t own a dog.

NPI has the correct take on this endorsement story #Seattle

We expected it. The editorial board's "Jekyll personality" has been more dominant lately. Plus, Heywood torched any chance of getting the Times' endorsement by not doing a straight-up repeal measure. 645 would not repeal all of SB 6346, and it also jeopardizes the capital gains tax and PFL premiums.
