CSS-Tricks has a new owner!
Yes, I've got the keys to the castle, so to speak. And, even after 12 years of working on the site, I'll admit I'm a little overwhelmed and nervous about that.

If you needed a win as badly as I have lately, mark this one down: CSS-Tricks is returning as an independent publication.
Spread the word.

I crest the hill clad in my ceremonial garb — a Carhartt over a paint-stained black pullover sweatshirt — and, with screwdriver in hand, bellow the traditional song passed down through generations of greater-Boston townie: “CA-AAR’S FU-UUCKED.”
If they wanted to make Cyberpunk: Edgerunners S01 infinitely more relatable, all they had to do was have David occasionally mutter “things should quiet down a little next week, and then I can take a break” during the last few episodes.
Only two (2) copies of Multipage Version #2: IMAGES left — after this, I probably won’t do another run of ’em until issue #3. Act fast.
Also, stickers! So far, I have “JavaScript [is] for Everyone,” “THE PEOPLE DESTROYING THE WEB HAVE NAMES AND ADDRESSES,” and the issue #2 sticker sheet up there.
The Venn diagram of “people that think one must ‘get on board with AI or get left behind’” and “credulous dorks that think a flying Tesla could ever happen” looking like the moon that they’ll definitely be able to stamp their little feet and demand their cars drop them off at someday.
I should’ve said, too: if you’ve already grabbed yourself a seat for vanilla JavaScript for Everyone — or you’re considering it — you’ll get the expanded New Game+ version as soon as it drops. Who doesn’t like free DLC?

It is not a common occasion at all that you get to be the first person on the web to properly document a HTML tag that shipped in a browser, but that is what I've done today.
Have you ever heard about <HYPE>?
I've explained it in this newly updated article: vale.rocks/posts/html-r...

Switched to drinking herbal tea most of the day to cut back on my nigh-inhuman caffiene intake, and the benefits have been really noticable:
• Screaming forever-headache
• Consistent execution of frame-perfect pre-00:00 microwave alarm cancels
• Improved sleep only at times when sleep is undesirable
Multipage
Just noting Mat's Multipage Version zine rules. I bought both issues right away. It's weird, it's funny, it's a work of art, and you might even learn something. The page...

Happy 32nd Birthday The first proposal of Cascading HTML Style Sheets!
On October 10, 1994, the Norwegian programmer Håkon Wium Lie published the first proposal of Cascading HTML style sheets.

we need to be having conversations about Google's influence on web standards because it's increasingly apparent they are using their influence to cause harm as long a number goes up

After a decade at Cloudinary, I am looking work.
I'm a web developer who's done a lot of devrel, too. I'm good at the front of the front end, great at browsers and standards and deeply understanding and explaining technical topics, and the stem of my T-shaped skills is: "images, on the internet".
Though a rudimentary format, all things considered, DVDs had some truly brilliant menus.
My latest is about some great menus and a few technical details of DVD video interactivity. It even takes a bit of a look at some DVD games.

I almost didn't remark upon the fact that this shipped a couple weeks ago, on September 15th.

Alright dorks, I’m finally going to the MIT Flea for the first time despite being raised down the street from it, and I’m gonna haul some issues of Multipa.ge along — flag me down if you want one, or just to talk me out of buying a Mac Classic or a ham radio or whatever.
