Head of security at Opry Mills reveals that they use LPR to notify repo companies when mall visitors are behind on their car payments. “3 or 4 people a week” come to him saying their car was stolen when in reality the mall had tipped off the repo company and gotten it taken.

Good thing he doesn’t live in Nashville 🫠. Anyone remember how he got pulled over doing 85 in a 55 last year and almost got into a fight with MNPD?

please for all that is good in this world, let me and my weird friends just make benches and stop trying to make the city actively worse. thank you.

The original east Nashville Spokes timeline. We’re too busy sitting on our hands, suing an inept federal administration, and reallocating our own Vision Zero dollars away from safety projects to do it our damn selves. NACTO Designing cities? More like NADA in Nashville.

Great bike ride today! Rode the greenway 25 miles and tried the new path around Ascend. Also, found a great category on hub for this horse 💩 behavior:

"ICE agents can access vehicle information and travel history from databases that collect information from electronic license-plate readers" MNPD wants $2.9M for LPR's in Nashville. Let's not aid in further enabling these efforts.

“This is a warning. We know you live right here.” Federal agents nationwide can access your personal data, including communications and daily travels in America’s new surveillance dragnet.

"Rodríguez, who was in the car with her husband — a U.S. citizen — has been following all the legal steps to citizenship. In her job, Rodríguez has reported several stories that hold ICE accountable, and it’s unclear whether her detention was retaliation."

A Nashville reporter who has reported on ICE was detained at a stop in South Nashville yesterday. Estefany Rodríguez fled Colombia after getting death threats and is awaitng an asylum hearing. nashvillebanner.com/2026/03/05/j...

The number of times I’ve seen MNPD cars parked or driving on the sidewalk or in a bike lane in Nashville is astounding…almost seems like it might not be against policy? But also, come on, how hard is it to park your car somewhere that doesn’t endanger others?

INVESTIGATION: Over the last 5 months, the Banner and a coalition of partners analyzed 52 hours of footage and thousands of pages of documents from a joint THP/ICE operation targeting Nashville’s predominantly immigrant neighborhoods. Here’s what we found: (1/11) ✍️ @sarahgracetaylor.bsky.social

nashvillebanner.comHow ICE, THP targeted Nashville immigrants, inflated safety claims - Nashville BannerAnalysis shows Tennessee state troopers and ICE agents profiled and disparaged immigrants during Nashville enforcement operation in May 2025.

Here is one of the dumbest things about vibe coding that I don't see a lot of people talking about Imagine you're an open source maintainer and someone opens up a pull request against your repository that they vibe coded. They may or may not tell you they vibe coded it; it doesn't really matter… 🧵

ICE spotted in Inglewood. D7 has a large immigrant population, plus ICE targets Home Depot and we have one of those. If you see ICE call Music City MigraWatch 615-933-8409.

Don’t we have a Downtown library that needed renovations??? Seems a good use of this funding that was already approved in the DMC’s grant contract would be to… renovate the library the NDP’s subcontractors blew up. Ah but wait, the mayors office is choosing to limit this use out with the MOU.

lol the mayor’s office favorite way to refute every single point we make is simply to claim “it’s misinformation” with no substantive rebuttal. Dave Rosenberg did the same thing with fusus and every single thing we said about surveillance tech has happened since then.

I wrote to my councilperson and focused on the Downtown Partnership's apparent negligence in other areas (Library Garage). I got a reponse that was copied from the mayor's office claiming "misinformation."

Diana says "funding structures" are an impediment to quickly implementing life-saving projects. Has anyone asked her who paid the ~$150k to remove the 9th Ave bike lane? Would love to know the answer to that.

“That was not enough,“ said protestor Manaen Hall. ”That was inaction. There are things that NDOT can do and has done elsewhere that greatly improve our safety, and they haven’t chosen to do it here. We’re calling for them to do that.” 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 no more excuses @nashvilledot.bsky.social

I really hope Nashville politicians are paying attention to all of the alarming news that has come out around surveillance since passing the “guardrails” legislation. At this point, it should be glaringly obvious to everyone that there is absolutely no way to safely use surveillance technology.

Matthew Guariglia@mguariglia.bsky.social

ICE is getting access to Loews and Home Depot's license plate reader data. This is what happens when you are a customer of Flock Safety. You think you're securing your parking lot, but really you're feeding surveillance data to ICE.

NASHVILLE, show up for the public hearing this Tuesday, July 15th to speak at the public hearing against the BID legislation. The Nashville Downtown Partnership has an outsized influence on our city with no accountability or oversight. It’s time for council to tell them NO. More info in posts below!

“IN VIOLATION OF THE DEPARTMENT’S POLICY” Policies are only as good as the people entrusted to enforce them, my friends. That’s why we cannot give an inch on the surveillance state.

“Richmond police chief Rick Edwards said in a press release Tuesday afternoon that data from the department's license plate reader program was used to assist with immigration enforcement, in violation of the department's policy.”

This is just gross on so many levels.

While Nashville officials have consistently distanced themselves from the immigration operation, the video obtained by the Banner shows that Tennessee Highway Patrol and federal agents were able to insert themselves easily into a routine MNPD traffic stop.

This happened on May 8th, the Mayor's office was notified on May 9th, but the footage wasn't released until the day after the Metro budget was passed on June 17th 🤔 Did council know about this? @delishiafornash.bsky.social @emilyfor7.bsky.social @quinevanssegall.bsky.social @ginnywelsch.bsky.social

Amid state-federal joint immigration sweeps last month in South Nashville, a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper, tailed by ~4 feds, swooped in on a routine Metro traffic stop. The state trooper asked to "take over" the stop.
