NEW: Remedy's latest game, Control Resonant, is filled with art galleries. The galleries are filled with real art When I began talking to Remedy about it, I was delighted to discover who the artists are: many are the game developers' parents My story... www.gamefile.news/p/control-re...

gamefile.newsWho made the art inside Control Resonant? When the developers of Control Resonant needed to fill their video game version of New York City with art galleries, they tapped the talents of people they knew particularly well

One of the most insightful comments about game development came from a former boss. He said “Making a game is like starting a band. You can’t throw money at a new studio with random AAA veterans and expect it to crank out a hit.” 🧵

The Killing Stone's 1.0 launch is today, and players can finally experience The Reckoning. That was one of the most memorable parts of development for me, wrangling almost every system in the game to bring the ending experience together in its own unique way.

We have a release date! The Killing Stone, an Occult Horror Mystery starring @emmagregoryvoice.bsky.social and @voiceofobrien.bsky.social launches on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation & more - this OCTOBER 21st! I am sure this will go well. It is not like D&D players are obsessive rules lawyers with no concept of moderation, shame, or exhaustion. It isn't like every one of them has self selected for the ability to organize and feed each other through a long series of obstacles.

Binary Serialization in df_game_data A new blog post where I talk about how the binary serialization works. In particular, how static vs dynamic sized objects are handled to avoid special case limitations. blog.demofox.org/2026/10/15/b...

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

Some enterprising hacker collective could test this: throw some vibecoded OpenAI Astra & Claude Opus bullshit together, train it on stats about student loans & what would happen if they went away, & then instruct it to free up spending power for millions of americans, & just like, see what happens…

Courtney Milan@courtneymilan.com

If I built an AI lab and it went rogue and deleted all student loan information, I'm betting they'd suddenly figure out how to prosecute me.

I don't believe they are conscious but I also don't believe you should get to do interviews where you say "idk man our business model might be built on enslaving sentient creatures" and still get to be a business.

I gave Braid an A+ back in my press days. I spent 100s of hours working on The Witness at PlayStation, fighting for it, getting it into conferences, and being Jon's personal wrangler. I even coined "Metroidbrainia" after it. I will not be buying Order of the Sinking Star, and neither should you.

Went from 28 FPS to a rock solid 60 FPS on Steam Deck just by tweaking my SubViewports #Godot Quick Tip: If your project uses a lot of SubViewports (as I do for signs, labels, letters) and chokes on low end hardware (like Steam Deck), drop this script on them Huge performance boost for a #gamedev

That's cool. I'm sure all the BitReactor devs that were furloughed weeks before launch are gonna see some of that $50 million... right? Residuals are standard in other creative industries. If the people who actually made the game got their share of the profits, we wouldn't be in this mess.

Star Wars Zero Company is estimated to have sold 1 million copies, with the majority of those sales coming from Steam, which Alinea Analytics' Rhys Elliott estimates has generated around $50 million since last month’s launch. https://bit.ly/4xKTiku

When a game studio ships a solid game, it creates TWO valuable products: 1. A solid game. 2. The team that spent years learning how to work together make a game. Because Western studios keep disbanding #2 while development cycles get longer; we will inevitably see less of #1.

Not quite done with it but South of Midnight is one hell of a game so far. I have plenty of mechanical critiques - but the game is trying to be art. Trying to evoke an emotional response. And in that it WORKS.
