@jessicafancymp.bsky.social Your colleagues’ response to what happened is utterly unacceptable. Please raise the matter in caucus and urge all MPs to demand press freedom at any public event in which they are involved. The Everwind deal stinks to high heaven & the public has a right to know.

Kate Beaton@katebeaton.bsky.social

This is indefensible behaviour from Everwind. The research done by this reddit poster on the issue is worth your time. The link to the thread www.reddit.com/r/halifax/co... - The Halifax Examiner is one of the last true resources we have for journalism in Nova Scotia. Disgusting.

I started in a new school today. I had asked for an air purifier, and was told no problem. Turns out, every room in this little school has an air purifier. Good for them…

Canada doesn’t want the “benefits of a state”. The US wants to treat us like a state instead of a sovereign nation. And a good neighbour who just gifted them a bridge.

We can have both inclusion and safe classrooms. But not if we are going to cut the education budget by 3% each year. True in NS as well as Ontario.

Once upon a time… A vulnerable child with complex needs learned to use picture cards to communicate his needs and ideas at school. He learned to use visual schedules, first/then visuals, and social narratives to understand what were initially confusing and chaotic routines in his day.

Hahaha. Today we were talking about how neurodivergent people tend to marry other neurodivergent people and produce small neurodivergent people…not always. But enough.

Mark Zuckerberg built a massive data center in Georgia just hundreds of yards from people’s homes. Now the water pressure is gone. Sinks don’t run. Toilets won’t refill. Homes shake nonstop. Power outages are routine.

Just a reminder that Carney is cutting funding to the CBC by $192 million next year (despite campaign promises to *increase* funding) and its actively undermining efforts to combat misinformation.

Journalism empowers us with the truth and protects our democracy. In a world where it’s increasingly under threat, Canada continues to support a free and open press — and we are stronger for it. #WorldPressFreedomDay

Replying to @njbbari3.bsky.social

What they are hiding, with their “natural” disease mediated immunity, is that we are living in an unnatural world, of sealed in boxes of dirty air called buildings, where we are miserably slaving away to death for wages that won’t cover the rent. And it’s killing us.

There is currently a group of girls who are eating lunch in my room and they are having a wedding where one girl is marrying her granola bar, and another one is performing the ceremony….

This is concerning. I lived in BC. We had mostly small earthquakes with the occasional larger one. Houses didn’t have basements. Materials were used to limit structural damage. We don’t do that here. Buildings will suffer structural damage insurance will not cover.

If you’re an artist in #NovaScotia, you may want to talk with Tim.

Tim Bousquet@timbousquet.bsky.social

Are there any Nova Scotian artists (visual arts, craftspeople, musicians, etc.) who want to talk with me about their work, their financial challenges, and how the provincial budget cuts are affecting them?

Today I learned I’m older than the Civil Rights Act.

James E. Clyburn@repjamesclyburn.bsky.social

Today marks 58 years since the Civil Rights Act of 1968 was signed into law by Lyndon B. Johnson, prohibiting discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of housing. It combated practices like redlining, which denied Black Americans access to mortgages and homeownership.

MLA stands in the legislature and congratulated our local theatre company for their production. They are housed in the local theatre which is losing a fifth of their funding.Rental rates went up to cover the shortfall, and theatre company complained to the theatre, shared and liked MLA post though.

I'm a Cape Bretoner, so you can't BS me about resource extraction companies. They are locusts. They come and they take and take and take and leave the people sickened and impoverished, and the land despoiled. #nspoli #cdnpoli

If I don’t print this anywhere, I’ll scream, and this is the most safe space. I am a music teacher in NS public school, the last time I received ANY funding from the government was 2016. I fund raise every cent. I get grants (gone). My kid’s summer job (gone), my kids internship(gone).

I’m glad someone got their funding back, but this still doesn’t help my job, or my family, and we are hurting. HURTING. So don’t tell me how my job is less important than other people’s funding. I’m saying, NO ONE in ANY government wants to pay for art or music, and it is killing me and my family.

Spread across all 800-thousand-plus personal income tax filers in Nova Scotia, the savings from these cuts amount to about $153 per year. A little more than $12/month. @machzy.bsky.social did thspreadsheet before I got around to it. Thanks!

According to the provincial data, 109 Nova Scotians died of Covid in 2025. That’s more than in 2020 (65) or 2021 (46). Masks save lives.

We also seriously need to promote working from home. I go days without driving because I work from home. Know what? We can find cost savings in ditching middle managers whose job it is to make sure workers have their butts in seats.

Laura White, P.Eng.@lecwhite.bsky.social

For HRM, we need to reduce emissions and adapt via HaliFACT which relies on implementing the IMP. This means a significant modal shift away from driving for every trip to riding for more trips 🚍⛴️🚲🛴.

Y'all, ICE thugs are still terrorizing people in Minneapolis and St. Paul. They are counting on America looking away, and it's currently working. Please tell everyone you know, please reach out to people with huge followings, and ask them to help refocus our attention on the ongoing abuses.

Andrew Karre@andrewkarre.bsky.social

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

Went for a walk. The first picture is our road at 3 pm. The last 3 are the local park where I went to check on the ducks. They seem okay. Someone was down and checked on them already.

We would all be healthier today if the province had taken the money the Feds gave them for COVID prevention and relief and actually spent it in schools, instead of banking it to pad their surplus.

Longer clip. Also, he’s trying to connect with the kids. Which I respect. Choirs for kids are my whole life.

“The dream that you dare to dream really will come true” Mandy Patinkin singing with kids from PS22 at Mamdani’s inauguration is the most joyful thing I’ve seen in a long time. May 2026 be the year things start to shift. May we get universal healthcare, childcare, affordable housing & education
