With the clear evidence of Meta interfering with Brazil, I want everyone to understand that these algorithms are not simply the product of some neutral 'marketplace of ideas' but an active choice in the part of tech capitalists (and their executives.)

Such an intimidation tactic would not work. Particularly from someone with such pathetic resistance and potential. What would Marina do to her? Try to shoot her? Maryam did not like to brag. But if someone tried to shoot her, she would simply dodge the bullet.

local government in new zealand is hamstrung by its inability to raise funds appropriate to what they *have* to spend to even maintain services. there is political pressure to not raise funds, and spend even less. national government must fix the local government funding model if this is to stop.

Unless, that is, a new tenant with some actual connection to the community moves in swiftly, and then Prada closing would have had a very positive impact.
