I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

Yet another reason to wish for the Butlerian Jihad.

How do you feel about someone setting up an automated process that hammers restaurant-reservation websites to gain an advantage in booking a table? The NY Times thinks this is not only acceptable; it's a "killer task" for AI, worth paying $100/month. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/25/t...

READ this. It’s not that long, but it is an important reminder of what RFK, Elmo & the rest really want to recreate.

So. The Experiment on Channel 4. Will ordinary members of the public recognise Nazi eugenics as it applies to disabled people when it's right in front of them? 11 years ago I wrote about Aktion T4. 1/

Good Grief. The bad is bad law (like ones against “locking” knives like my Soldier Model SAK or “butterfly” knives among others) but this is just a flat out stupid interpretation of the 2nd Amendment…

A 68-year-old federal law that bans the manufacturing of switchblades for sale or distribution across state lines violates the Second Amendment, the 5th Circuit ruled last night. www.reuters.com/legal/govern...

When Grammy-winning musician Rhiannon Giddens begins playing “Old Corn Liquor,” a traditional Black American folk tune, acclaimed Chinese pipa virtuoso Wu Man recognizes similarities to Chinese pentatonic music and spontaneously joins in. The joy on their faces says it all.

At least the UK government is working to make things better for their citizens after the traitorous insanity of BREXIT.

Burnham started his much-needed assault on Brexit yesterday by confirming Russian interference in the vote. Now this: “In a statement to MPs, Andy Burnham will argue it is time to "face up to the reality that Brexit has done more harm than good" and "the status quo is not good enough for Britain."”

Alright, I don't post much, and I post on politics even less, but I feel it's important to call out that I VOTED. I am doing what I can, little though it may be. I'm sorry to the rest of the country, and the world, if it isn't enough. But we're trying.

I never thought I'd live to see a SecDef so incompetent that Robert McNamara looks good.

Light is the left hand of darkness and darkness the right hand of light. Two are one, life and death, lying together like lovers in kemmer, like hands joined together, like the end and the way.

And though I came to forget or regret all I have ever done, yet I would remember that once I saw the dragons aloft on the wind at sunset above the western isles; and I would be content.

Rousseau: Do you like cats? Boswell: No. Rousseau: I was sure of that. It is my test of character. There you have the despotic instinct of men. They do not like cats because the cat is free and will never consent to be a slave. He will do nothing to your order, as the other animals do.

A dire warning, billionaire criminal Musk has set up a scheme in the form of a website votesafe.org in order to steal voter information. Never click on the link and please share this everywhere so others won’t fall prey to it like so many others.

I'm always astonished at how many people get deeply involved in reality shows like Big Brother, the Bachelor, et al. And how much gab there is about it on social media, even bsky. I think there should be a reality show called Get A Life that's about lives of people heavily into "reality" shows.

I am surprised. They usually pretzel their way into ignoring reality.

Had a student confused about how the feds could have suppressed the first KKK. They seemed to think, quite honestly, that racist terrorism is legally protected political activity/a free speech issue. I had to explain that, no, organized crime/terrorism is in fact against the law.
