There’s nothing wrong with Billionaires having billions. There is something inherently wrong with billionaires cutting your benefits, and help to the poor through USAID, and running around with a chainsaw giggling. You can have power or billions. But we refuse to be an oligarchy

Your inability to see the power inherent in wealth, especially extreme wealth like being a billionaire, is one of the main failures holding you back from being an agent of positive change. You may be anti-MAQA, but in the end you remain an abettor of an unjust system.

Re nothing wrong with billionaires having billions: sir, everything is wrong with that. It should not be possible to amass disgusting amounts of wealth that exceed the budgets for entire countries. Or so much wealth that you'd have to live and work for 10k years whilst other kids starve. Come on.

You're so damn wrong, it's sickening. Billionaires should not exist. bsky.app/profile/cyko...

🧵perpective How many paycheques would you be looking at if you got paid weekly and made $5,000 per day (5 days paid per week, or $25,000 weekly) to hit a billion dollars, barring no inflation, taxes, cost of living, or anything else, but pure profit? Buckle up, this is going to take a while...

Gotta disagree with you here. We don’t need billionaires. We need a system that builds a strong foundation by creating opportunity for the broad base of ordinary people. Extreme concentration of wealth is always at odds with that goal. We can have rich people, but not billionaires.

No Adam I think it’s time to finally face the fact as hard is it for a republican or an ex republican to believe but there is something seriously wrong with billionaires hoarding all that money while people are starving on the streets

There are no ethical billionaires. From the Kochs to Oprah, from Taylor to Jayzee and Beyonce. Even Sir Paul McCartney. You shouldn't have that much money if there are hungry or hurting people anywhere.

That would actually be kinda difficult. She owns 35b in stock not cash but she also gives away what that stock earns yearly. When Musks said that she was ruining society she doubled the amount of her gifts last year.

REPOST this far and wide. WE CAN HELP WIN BACK THE HOUSE ON APRIL 1st. Two special elections we must win come up for grabs. Bernie, Obama, Harris, Jeffries are scrambling to raise as much money as possible, but NOW we need YOU to support these two candidates. joshweil.us and gayforcongress.com

There actually is something terrible about billionaires having billions, it's called hoarding resources. Plus, how many billionaires have exploited their workers? There's something really wrong with getting rich off the hard work of others, without proper compensation.

Your first sentence is a reason to ignore the rest of what you said. Yes, there is something wrong with them having billions when they use that money to be untouchable and untaxed all while making that billions off the rest of us they screw over. Fuck. That.

It’s also that they pretend they are self made and don’t benefit from a healthy productive society. They act like contributing to that society is unfair. Even if they didn’t get subsidies and tax breaks they benefit from roads, bridges, high speed internet, and an economy that provides consumers

I’m actually starting to think there is something inherently wrong with allowing the accumulation of that much personal wealth and power in a single individual…

Actually yes, there is something inherently wrong with Billionaires existing & what is transpiring is absolute proof of it. If a Mill-Bill-Trillionaire ever employed anyone to work for them at non-living wages, they are prosperity thieves.

Adam: There is something terribly wrong with the distribution of wealth in America. It's not been this bad since railroad & publishing robber barons. The very few people at the top are amassing wealth (and power) at a rate that can't be sustained. Middleclass is hollowed out. Poor are getting poorer

Uh, yes there is. The only way to get billions is to exploit something- workers, the environment, the government, consumers... #EveryBillionaireIsAPolicyFailure

There's everything wrong with billionaires having billions. It's fucking obscene for billionaires to exist while others live in squalor. Fucking obscene...

The industrialists have taken over! 😟 "... one of the reasons why I am in favor of less government is because when you have more government industrialists take it over, and the two together form a coalition against the ordinary worker and the ordinary consumer." -Grandpa Milton

With all due respect, Congressman, is there not a point at which the concentration of wealth makes a man above the law? Locke listed life, liberty, and property in that order for a reason. I am no communist - but extreme concentration of wealth and liberal democracy clearly cannot coexist.

As a Georgist, I am convinced that most of our massive fortunes are built on economic rents of one kind or another, and we’d have a significantly flatter distribution of wealth if natural rents were public property and artificial rents were abolished. But there is a larger point about great wealth.

A man whose net worth is $1M can have a much higher quality of life than a man whose net worth is $100k. Can the same be said of $1B vs $100M? Both have effectively inexhaustible access to luxuries. What the billionaire has more of is power. And no man ought to be able to buy power.

Respectfully I’d disagree. There’s is absolutely everything wrong with billionaires - the inequality in wealth, which means power, distribution is the underlying cause of almost all conflict. Billionaires existing with folk dying of starvation, ill health, no jobs…. everything is wrong with that.

No!! You are absolutely WRONG about a handful of people having ALL of the wealth in this country, & NONE of the onus of keeping it going by PAYING THEIR FAIR SHARE IN TAXES! They pay no taxes, but benefit from the taxes WE PAY! They are the WELFARE QUEENS! They get BILLIONS of our taxpayer dollars ⬇️

EVERY YEAR, & we can’t even afford groceries! THAT IS WRONG! Until hoarding money is made illegal in America, & EVERYONE pays taxes, we are in a caste system, with 5 at the top, & the rest of us starving! It’s YOUR political party who got us here, so kindly stop “schooling” us, K?

Adam, actually there is something wrong with billionaires having billions. They use it to buy power, which leads to a further accumulation of wealth, which is used to buy even more power. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I disagree, Colonel. There IS something wrong with billionaires having billions, especially when billions have zero, or close to it. “Behind every great fortune lies a great crime.”

Also most billionaires have forgotten the philosophy of giving back as consumers are who made you a billionaire (businesses, sales, stocks & bonds, etc.) They need to start with Carnegie. Build your business and net worth … and SHARE (at least some of) that wealth with those who got you there.

I like Adam, but I think there needs to be a limit somewhere. Elon musk has proven that. I know some billionaires and I truly don’t think they’re all bad people, but at the same time, I feel that there needs to be some point where someone amassed so much personal wealth that it should be taxed 100%.

There is something wrong with gaming the system. For a long time now, these people have used their wealth to buy politicians and the courts. The people have felt the weight of that as prices for everything have skyrocketed out of control. Leaving much of America struggling just to survive.

There would probably be no billionaires if they were forced pay their employees a proportionate amount of what they make; if they, and their businesses, were taxed proportionately; and lastly, if they were not entitled to a greater say in our government.

Your comment reflects a disregard for American values as defined by the Founders but then I note that during your time in Congress you did not resolve the growing wealth inequality in the US.

There is PLENTY wrong with “Billionaires having billions” when they are giving Nazi salutes at inaugural celebrations & they are stealing our personal data, stripping our protections & rights, brainwashing the masses, including our children, supporting post Constitution dictatorship. #NQNQ247

There is PLENTY wrong with “Billionaires having billions” while there are 800k+ homeless on the streets while the GOP tees up billions more in tax breaks for the billionaire oligarchs. There is PLENTY wrong with it while Ctizens United v FEC still stands, allowing the purchase of pols. #NQNQ247

With all due respect, Adam, “Billionaires having billions” is the result of inadequately regulated capitalism, which inevitably leads to oligarchy, autocracy/dictatorship & ultimately totalitarianism by its very nature. We are at the autocracy/dictatorship stage. We stop them here & now. #NQNQ247

Actually, I do think there is something wrong with a person having wealth of a billion dollars or the equivalent value in another currency. In theory, a reason for our capitalist system is for the efficient allocation of resources. Hoarding all that money is not efficient allocation of resources.

“Show me a fortune and I’ll show you a crime.” Whether it’s regulatory capture and modern corruption of Prescott Bush & pals trying to launch a coup against FDR a century ago the rich are always toxic to democracy.

The terrible things billionaires are doing to this country is going to lead to a revolution, like it or not, there will be no middle ground. You will be forced to pick a side and either stand with the people or be treated as one of the oligarchs. There will be no “good billionaires.”

Sorry I disagree... The trickle down politics back in the 80's under Regan was a farce it never happened in helping the middle class. That time period is when the rich got richer, and millionaires are now billionaires.

I disagree Adam! I love you but I disagree this time. Donald Trump is the biggest scammer of all and he stole billions from poor charities and more to get rich and that isn't all, he acts just like most Republicans - THE TRUE PARTY OF THE RICH, no offense to you.

There’s nothing wrong with Billionaires having billions … if everyone else has millions. It’s the disparity, the relative poverty of others, that is the problem. And that, I’m afraid, is - in reality - the flip-side of having Billionaires.

Exactly. If people want to have "billions" in art or NFTs, sure, whatever. You want to claim your one of a kind diamond or watch is worth 50 million? Okay, i guess. But if you end up owning the resources the rest of us need to live, it's not acceptable.

I agree, but also democracy has an undeniable interest in limiting wealth disparity. If the any one individual, or small group, gathers more money and power than the state, then the People’s will can be nullified.

Most billionaires make their money off the backs of their workers. They don’t need 100M a year for working 10 hrs a week. So maybe it’s kinda wrong. They are systematically destroying what’s left of the middle class. They want trillionaires, billionaires & poor people. That’s the point of everything

There is a problem of billionaires having excessive billions. The wealth gap is a threat to our society & democracy as they control Congress. Tax the wealthy. Hasn’t trickled down in 40 yrs. They have benefit of living here; infrastructure, educated workforce, safe country.

Being a billionaire should not be allowed. Every cent someone earns past $999,999,999.99 should be given to the citizens. They are earning it on the backs of others, and no one actually has a need for that much money. This country is full of unhoused, hungry, and struggling people who would benefit

I disagree The fact some billionaires wants a sense of entitlement to be subsidized & then refuses to be taxed Come on At what level of continuous cycle of a subsidize is allowed to prop up a Corp? Problematic .oil exploration, forestry industry still subsidized Grocery stores love wic, snap

There's irony in all these billionaires running to support Trump. Because 6 months ago, I would have agreed with you, but now I'm thinking it's probably better to jail them all and give their money to the poor. And I'll bet I'm not the only voter who's come to feel that way since January 20th.

If billionaires exist, poverty should not exist, most especially child poverty. So do you support universal basic income? Do you support a universal child allowance? Do you support much higher taxes on billionaires to make sure they don't exist simultaneously with poverty and $85k GDP per capita?

Billionaires are the result of 3 things - gross exploitation of labour and resources without paying anywhere near a fair price; revival of a caste system with inherited advantages and disadvantages; failure of tax systems to account for first 2.

One more thing that's major problem with maga oligarchs they not only don't want to pay taxes they want to take charge of our Government and don't follow our Constitution those narcissists thing that they know how to govern without any rules and regulations.

Kids these days will never appreciate that billionaires used to be harmless. They’d just ride around in Rolls-Royces in the fake British countryside asking each other in fake British accents if they had any mustard on ‘em.

Hmm....by stealing? I don't have a problem with people having a shit load of money, but be honest in how you obtain that money or wealth. What I have a problem with are people who steal from others? Karma will be there when that time comes.

Billionaires are created through exploitation of the earth for its resources, exploitation of workers by underpaying us, exploitation of consumers by overcharging us.

Problem is, though, money is power in and of itself. Always has been. It sweeps away proplems and consequences alike bc all of us need money; and far too many will aquire it dishonestly. The only difference is that we now, all of us, see that power at work in the open.

& something deeply wrong about evading paying their share of TAXES! Then ironically theyre nothing more than entitled FREELOADERS! #DefendDemocracy #FightFascism #fputin #supportukraine #TaxTheRich #TaxBillionaires #ImpeachTrumpForTreason #savefederaljobs #HealthcareForAll #codifysocialsecurity

To put it in another way, you are enabling hoarders. No one "needs" that much money. If we saw a monkey holding onto a billion bananas while everyone else around them was struggling we'd be studying what is wrong with them. Billionaires ARE those monkeys. Since ancient times we've called it "Greed"

Respectfully, I disagree. 1 billion seconds is 32 years. "Billionaires" do not do enough period to be "worth" that much. Billionaires aren't "self-made" every billionaire got that money by taking it from the people who invented things, who collaborated (infrastructure, problem solving etc).

Had the people who contributed along the way been compensated properly collectively, there wouldn't be a single billionaire. The only thing a billionaire does is buy someone else's idea then claim the credit, while refusing to offer fair compensation for everyone who makes it possible.

I'm going to have to disagree with you here. Having billions pretty much rots your brain. Not saying there can't be wealthy people but THAT level of wealth provides an unaccountable amount of power to people who least deserve it.

How exactly are you "refusing" to be an oligarchy? What has anyone done to stop it? I agree with you it must be stopped but the view from outside the US is that those opposing Trump seem paralyzed and disorganized. Small protests and boycotts but how does that stop it? Genuinely asking.

Humanity's track record with billionaires is not very good... Perhaps we should start exercising some restraint in the degree in which we elevate these vultures, what good is "innovation" if the price is repeated genocidal catastrophes?
