Phenomenal headline, thank you. Not enough people are pointing out that this stinks of desperation. Bungie has no future left after everything; Destiny is at most foundational to a few more months, or maybe a year, of life for their company.

So they realized they should have made Destiny 3 rather than Marathon? I personally would love a PVE destiny style Marathon mode (this is a very luke warm take, i know)

More accurate headline: "After killing Bungie's cash cow out of spite and seeing Marathon's dwindling player base, Sony allows Bungie to perform necromancy on Destiny 2 with not enough necromancers"

basically this like. beyond the fact that they are talking about "unvaulting" content *which should never have been "vaulted" to begin with,* they *absolutely* do not deserve credit for undoing the damage they did to their own game the question they're not answering is, "with what staff?"

like from the sounds of it Bungie has just enough people left to keep Marathon on life support; there's a nonzero chance the December update is the last ever, or that it simply doesn't happen

it's a little bit like someone saying "yeah, we ran over your dog by accident, and then we ran over him two or three more times on purpose for good measure, but we realized the *mistake* we made doing all that and we're going to bring him back to life" and he intends to do this with a first aid kit

Why are have you reposted this same AI slop a bunch of times in the replies? This is like the 3rd one I've seen from you. You could at least mix it up a bit with a different image. AI bots these days are just so god damn lazy.

I always said it. The only way that Sony will recover any money from its debacle at Bungie. Is though Destiny. They need to put in a small team. Of Destiny creative veterans , and start rebuilding. restoring Destiny, as is though. That is a mistake. They need to start from scratch.

Whilst Edge of Fate was a rocky start, I do really think Renegades was something they could of used for one of Destiny's infamous second winds. They had an actually compelling villain that wasn't some sort of nebulous cosmic force. There was premise there.

Imo Destiny collapsed because of snowballing bad ideas from head Devs from 10+ years ago, and snowballing financial mismanagement. There is still a core playerbase devoted to the IP - Destiny will be revived at some point - just a question of when. (I have been playing since D1 beta)

It was never impossible; Bungie's management never gave the dev team the time or resources needed to restore older content because they were hyperfixated on constantly adding new stuff for player retention.

Nobody who cites that lawsuit statement ever reads it oh my god They never said it was unrecoverable! Just that they didn’t have a working build on hand! Did you think they really remade titan, mars, the leviathan, etc from scratch for seasons? When they could've been doing something new instead?

Also - I was there - whilst I'm a tad miffed stuff I originally payed for is no longer accessible - I'm not exactly going to complain about trading The Pale Heart for The Tangled Shore. Like oh no they took away some of the less good gambit maps 😴

Eh I was miffed enough to leave when vaulting was announced and not come back until MoT Besides it's clearer than ever that they never *had* to remove stuff but they're fixing it now at least
