One of the protestors shot a cop, and Texas being Texas basically decided that all of them were involved in that shooting, including the guy who was hiding the zines after the arrests started.

No, he wasn't considered involved in the shooting! His wife told him to move something before their house (or apartment, I don't remember) got searched, so he did. Everybody actually at the protest could have been released with no charges filed and he'd still have interfered with an investigation.

The cop was going to murder a fleeing protestor, one person fired at the ground, the cop was grazed by a ricochet (potentially fired by the cops themselves) and the state went after unrelated people by arguing it was all part of some planned ambush

Those Protesters in Texas need to be freed. Where in the Hell is the ACLU. These sentences for no crime are a danger to all of us. All violations of the First Amendment are Appeals issues. This man did not cry fire in a crowded theater. This a clear rights issue. Are we Russia?

Outrageous. The consequences for assault desperately need revisiting. Aggravated assault is only a misdemeanor, when it should be a felony. It’s only upgraded to a felony after 3 of them IF it was a domestic assault.

hahaha I mean... America has been doing shit like this for decades. You think people are gonna wake up now? Gimme a break. You're all pathetic fascism-touchers, who enable, condone, and support state violence every single day

Actually, voting does fix this in two ways: 1. by depriving Republicans of the ability to appoint Supreme Court Injustices and judges all across the States, and 2. by replacing bad laws that contain jurisdiction-stripping provisions with good laws that contain jurisdiction-stripping provisions

Its ok im sure voting will fix this

No but arson carries really stiff penalties and always has. I'm sure they charged them as separate crimes for each car. I don't personally believe any of our criminal penalties are fair or free from prejudice.

So, I grew up partly in fascist Spain and this is how things worked there. The state would cheerfully apply its power to people it didn't like. Please don't think this can be temporary. My stepfather's body was never returned, and it only stopped when Franco died.

One thing that I haven't seen is solidarity lists of all these unjustly punished people, victims of the regime. They all need to be tracked, and freed, and compensated.

Don't worry. The free speech absolutists will be all over this. Joe Rogen will do several shows about this. The spirit of Charlie Kirk will be invoked to defend him. Tucker Carlson will not let this stand

& if you gen. think a *zine distributor* moving a box of zines on things like *essays on squatting and critiques of capitalism* deserves 30 years and is being correctly accused of concealment of terrorist "antifa" materials... Lol. Lmao. I'm horrified to share the road with people as stupid as you.

Yeah the state hates anti-fascist (wonder why), this was a clear first amendment violation. Surely you aren’t simply taking them at their word that a box of zines actually constitutes dangerous materials. That would be astoundingly naive.
