I believe they have no intention of ever "opening" the government. The regime has been able to do whatever it wants without Congress speaking up and will continue to do so. Yes, it may have started with the Epstein files, continued with ACA, but this is what Vought and Miller wanted all along.

I mean, they SAY they want "work requirements for every able-bodied adult getting government funding," but they have taken TWO FULL MONTHS OF PAID VACATION ON OUR DIME, and NOW their sloth has infected the Senate, where corrupt Thune has now told THEM to go away. The Republican majority wants him as Speaker, this is all by design. (Also, if they remove him, literally the only thing the House is allowed to do is to try to choose a replacement and they might not be able to manage that, so we would be even more dysfunctional.)

Democrats should, under no circumstances, open this government. They should, however, demand more and more concessions from Republicans every day…not in the form of “a promise to vote” but ironclad concessions to restore things cut by “DOGE” and Vought, and impeachment if the president reneges.

So, as I understand, house repubs passed a CR which is being held up in the Senate. Govt is shutdown but Senate still working and taking votes on stuff - house repubs, who passed its CR, is not even in session and won’t work until back open - but it’s not about the final Epstein signer? Sure Jan.

I tell you how it works: 1. You get 4 Republicans to vote with all 214 Democrats (Grijalva is still not sworn in), to Vacate the Speaker. Perhaps Massie and MTG are already in that camp. Once you do that, you elect a new speaker that will actually do work. Cherry on top: You tell Johnson to eat 💩

Actually, he doesn’t since the house passed the bill that the senate can’t pass. If the senate comes around and amends the bill *then* the house will have to come back to vote on the senate version.

Most probably don’t realize what is happening. In all honesty the way the news frames the shut down is that this is a Democratic Shutdown. And MAGA is MAGA and they like what he does. Either way it is pathetic.
