Hi everyone -- there is a general strike in Minnesota tomorrow to protest what the Trump administration and DHS are doing to our community. In solidarity with the action, I am going to donate my revenue from tmrw's newsletter to People over Papers, the Midway-Hamline Diaper Bank, & Every Meal. (1/2)

Thank you for posting donation preferences! There's a whole lot of us that would like to donate money or time rather than watching helplessly, and direction from trusted people on- scene could really do some good. More please!

I didn’t know you were here in Minnesota! 30 year transplant from California here! 👋🏼. I am heartbroken how our federal government and the president are occupying and causing injury to our community. The people are beautiful here.

First, he brought down Maduro in Venezuela Then he came up with the Greenland issue With both of those topics exhausted and having no bearing on the US, Trump is plotting his next psychological operation (taking over the Panama Canal?) to try and distract from what's REALLY keeping him up at night 👇

That's very generous of you Aaron. I am disappointed in this effort though. I believe it hurts small restaurants and shops. I'd rather the effort was "go support your ethnic restaurants and shops". This feels like a performative shoot yourself (or neighbor) in the foot.

thank you for posting this, Aaron, and for all you do every day to keep us all informed. I will also donate a week’s income—I am an LICSW in private practice so it’s not a lot, but it’s not a little either. Every bit will help, I hope.

I don't have a better word than *turnout* but when everybody does NOTHING tomorrow I sure hope there's a great... participation.

No Aaron no strike, just people who are going to use their vacation time,to prepare for the storm coming!!! I do hear the flu is pretty bad out there. You know what they say STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK!!!!

This should be the path forward. Demonstrations like NO KINGS will not be effective anymore. If as many people who participated in NO KINGS across the contry did a strike, then it will be REALLY felt

Love this idea. Not spending money tomorrow and I will send tomorrow's salary to one of the places on the list. Thanks for sharing, and for all you do.

Thank you Aaron for posting this and for your gracious support. To all of my friends here in Minnesota, followers from around the world thank you for your kindness and heart felt support.❤️💙

THIS is the way. General strikes actually do something that hurts the ruling class. Make sure you are prepared though. Respirators and eye protection are must-haves. You can get both at most hardware stores. Pay cash. Do not go out there without them, "less than lethal" is a lie.

Thank you to everyone who is risking their safety and contributing their time and money to protect our neighbors. If you are so inclined, please check out Stand With Minnesota (standwithminnesota.com) to find a way to help. And no one start any beefs with Will Stancil. (2/2)

A guy that Bluesky hates due to frequently bad political takes. However, he's been out on the ground in MN in whatever capacity he can help. A lot of Bluesky has still been trying to dunk on him more rather than just leaving him be while he's doing objective good

Protests are great, but without a straight fwd demand how do we measure effectiveness? Try demanding the end of the racist Kavanaugh Stops that have made 10s of millions of Americans 2bd Class citizens, subject to "show me your papers" based on appea7, language or line of work. Let's get a Win.

Genuine question. How does this hurt the administration? I'm all for supporting any attempts to fight back, but I don't see why Trump will care about this strike. Is there a good explanation anywhere?

tl;dr, it's not meant to hurt someone (like striking for higher wages), but meant to be a single day of active solidarity. The feds and their crony Emmer claim it's just a few outsider malcontents. This is meant to show no, this is Minnesota, and Minnesotans are standing together.

It doesn't matter if Trump sees it or not. It matters that the families in hiding realize every business on their block is shouting as one that what's being done to them is wrong.

Incidentally, has anyone done a safety check on Amy Klobucher to see if she’s ok? Is she showing up on the back of MILK CARTONS anywhere? The ONLY press I see is her considering a run for governor. If I were a Minnesotan, I’d tell her “when we hear from you EVERY DAY ripping Ice & Krusty Noem

We need to be doing a national general strike at least 1x/month until Orangina is gone gone gone. And with him ICE and Brain Worm and Pammy Jo and Kashyap and and and . . .

Aaron, sincere questions. Is there a way to help small businesses? What clothing stores/jewelry stores can people buy from? What gift certificates can we buy to help some of those companies? Basically, what GOOD local companies like Penzeys can people support from afar?

Prayers of protection for first responders, Paramedics are putting their safety on the line to help people who have been assaulted by ICE, they rush in to help even though they might get shot by ICE. There are some really decent police in MN also who put their lives on the line to stand for decency🙏

Thanks so much for all of your reporting Aaron and solidarity to you and the brave and decent folks of Minneapolis and St. Paul. It's sickening what you've had to put up with and I hope the situation improves asap.
