BASH: There was a protester during your debate with Susan Collins. She responded by saying 'this must be a Troy Jackson supporter' and you told the senator 'shut up.' Do you regret saying that? JACKSON: No. I'm not going to be talked down to by Sen. Collins. I'm not going to apologize for that, no.

Another talking head whose only relevance is proving they have nothing to contribute to an honest discussion. The mainstream network is a petri dish where conduits like Bash cultivate narratives that serve their corporate sponsors' interests.

I like his short, direct answer: "No." However, was this a missed opportunity to call out Susan Collins on her record? For example: "I'll apologize when she does for voting to confirm Brett Kavanagh," or "I'll apologize when she does for taking bribes and donates the money to women's health."

“Do you regret letting someone who is disrespecting you know that they are disrespecting you?” IMO, I would have preferred more artful word choice, but I support not ceding ground when the other side is muddying it.

She didn’t ask him to apologize. She gave him a chance to respond to the incident. Telling a sitting senator to “shut up” is not normal. But these are not normal times. I don’t follow Bash closely, but i’ve seen her hold steady in some very challenging interviews with republicans.

F&ck Susan Collins and the fascist-horse she rode to riches. When Rs fear the majority more than their mother’s-cellar-dwelling-Magat-losers, America can move forward. Not before then.

As a feminist, Susan Collins is no victim here. She said something stupid, rude and untrue out loud into a microphone. Jackson's reply was completely justified. She punched first. She's an adult.

Is that a serious question from Bash? Do not do this man/woman “respect” norm shite. She doesn’t deserve respect!!! Yo Bash! How about you go after the dudes that punched a woman IN THE FACE for wearing a “Release the Epstein Files” shirt?? Who are those MFers? I’m GenX and I approve this message.

Oh looksies what their media focuses on🤦🏼‍♂️ Her boss of bosses was raping and trafficking children to wealthy elites and saying "shut up" to one of the 🍊pedo sockpuppets is an issue

Actually, if he had had one less ounce of civility he would have told her , "Oh, shut the fuck up." Because I can guarantee he could have said it and almost any Mainer would have cheered him on. She deserved it. He owes nobody an apology.

Ask media you going to do your job and tell the truth about the most corrupt multi criminal we had in the whitehouse and the criminal controlled loyalist administration politicians owned by big money like COLLIINS ! Do your damn job not bow down to the same billionaires owning politicians !

Bash is a joke. Of all the things to ask about, she focuses on his response to lying asshole Collins’ cheap shot. The double standard is literally destroying our country. And Bash is fine with it.

Yeah, let's all apologize to Susan Collins. I'll go first, for repeatedly calling her a foul, wretched, withered, two-faced deceptive skank. I really regret saying that, since I say it often. I'll bet you can feel the contrition in my words. I'd never say anything mean about such a wonderful woman.

Dana Bash grabbing her ridiculous smelling salts and heading to the fainting couch over “shut up” after years of studiously avoiding the implications of Trump/MAGA bigoted, bullying language reveals crux of problem with media. They flex their bona fides if & only if to do so risks nothing.

Absolute trash. You can see her mind spinning out as she struggles to hold Democrats to account for (checks script) absolutely everything while holding Republicans who actually hold power to no standard at all. Shes such a pathetic kiss-ass; she has betrayed American democracy for access.

EXACTLY!!! WTAF! I am sick and tired of this. Enough with this double standard. We need to call people like Bash on this — they’re doing it on purpose and it’s a total disservice to viewers. This is NOT journalism and it’s certainly far from anything called unbiased reporting.

Dana Bash should be ashamed for asking that of Troy! Why not have Susan Collins on instead and ask her to apologize to Troy for suggesting a heckler at the debate was a Troy supporter.

He probably could have used a better choice of words, but where’s all the outrage for the truly nasty and misogynistic comments Trump makes to females?

Hmmmm... I don't know... I might suggest he admit it was crass, then turn this back on his interviewer and ask why isn’t Ms. Collins being taken to task for her mean spirited assumption... I will admit I am not as down with becoming more like the people who I believe are ruining this country...

What everyone is missing is that Collins doesn't care that Maine people are worried about datacenters and environmental impact, must be a Jackson supporter she claims. Look at her husband's business interests in data centers.

Republicans are enthusiastically supporting federally funded murders by land and sea and a Democrat candidate gets scolded for saying "shut up"... *Drives car into the ocean*

GOOD! Do not apologize to Collins ever. Republicans like to send their operatives to forums thinking they can nail candidates "gotcha" questions. With the GOP, every accusation is a confession, I'm happy Jackson understands this too and has had enough of their bullshit.

SCOOP: 'Tommy' from the now-viral exchange with Abdul El-Sayed is Thomas Teepell, a former staffer for Republican Senator Josh Hawley with close ties to Christian Nationalist Sean Feucht. He's the son of a former Bobby Jindal staffer whose consultant work was instrumental in getting Hawley elected.

Well, he didn’t say “Piggy.” What he said is the functional equivalent of “Oh, come on,” or “Gimme a break,” or “Get over yourself.” Jackson reflects Maine. Collins, despite her abbreviated potato picking career, does not.

Why is the onus on Troy Jackson in the first place? Collins took advantage of that moment to smear him with a lie? Why isn’t her lie the real topic of concern? It is the more harmful action. Was he supposed to let it ride and not call her on the carpet?

I don’t see this as partisan, I see it as lowest denominator gossip page slop which is NOT WHAT you need from the fifth estate. I just long for serious journalism from what are supposed to be our serious journalISTS.

Bash is trash. I’m sick of this type of questioning for Dems but crickets about the blatant corruption, lies, & misinformation from the GOP. This is NOT journalism or reporting or whatever the garbage corporate media is calling it these days. Support independent journalism because this is trash.

Also, she asks if he regrets it. How absurd! There are COUNTLESS incidents where everyone from trump down have said much much worse, every damn day. And nobody EVER asks if they regret it. None of them ever mention the hideous and outrageous comments from the right.

More people need to be telling more awful people to shut up when they spew bullshit. Mom taught me how to be proper and polite, but she would also agree that the time for the is over. 🌲💙 Go Troy!!!

Why not ask Collins’ why she talked like that? also - ask her why she is against Americans that are concerned about data centers! Assuming that that person was not voting for her

Bash: Why can't you be civil? Does she ask Republicans who want to push immigrants from planes? I wrote about this imbalance. Is there a comfortable middle ground between politicians who enable fascists and a pro-democracy movement that's fighting them? www.cultureofbelonging.net/how-both-sid...

cultureofbelonging.netHow "Both Sides" Journalism Protects One Side*Every election cycle, the same headline reappears across the New York Times and other newspapers: America is more polarized than ever, and both parties are to blame. It sounds responsible and neutral,...

I’m not a Maine voter (I did see that Sen Collins put some advertising in my Portland) and I know next to nothing about Jackson, other than he is not Susan Collins, but I do find his mush-mouthed, kind-of-annoyed, demeanor delightful.

We are at war, prices are outrageous, we have made enemies of our allies, we have allowed Russia to give $ to Iran, the government is trying to suppress voting, ICE is killing people, we are blowing up boats…yet moron Bash asks this stupid question. Bash can shut up along with Collins

Dana Bash Q to Biden in 1st debate is where I turned it off (paraphrase): "Black unemployment is at record lows, but Blacks still earn far less than whites, are still 3x more likely to die from pregnancy, are still imprisoned at five times the rate of white Americans. Why haven't you fixed this?"

Democrats are held to a different standard than MAGA Republicans who frequently sling far worse insults and slurs at Democrats without any calls for accountability.

🤔 I understand Troy Jackson’s defensive reaction to Susan Collins rude accusations and his reflexive response in telling her to shut up. We all get caught up in the heat of the moment, BUT to double down on something that is clearly equally as rude as her comment does nothing to better humanity.

There’s no wrong to apologize for. She’s getting the exact same treatment Republicans have been dishing out for literally decades, and this is long overdue. If you want to live in a civil society, you need to treat Epstein class garbage with the contempt it has earned.
