You can't expect the New York Times to give any attention to a story about the president being credibly accused of violent rape when the story breaks so close to an election. It's not like we're talking about something *really* important, like email security protocols.

Nicholas Grossman@nicholasgrossman.bsky.social

One party is anti-rape and one party is pro-rape, so prominent coverage of rape accusations of one party’s leader would be biased. The job of the press is to be objective. Or: Voters already knew Trump was a rapist, it’s baked in. The job of the press is novelty to influence electoral outcomes.

Entirety of corp media allowed team Trump to wave away Russia scandal (it is *ongoing* fucking scandal of epic proportions), Epstein & January 6th. But they still harp on non-scandals if of Dem variety to make sure crimes we witness on the daily don’t get too much voter consideration. Fuckers, all.

A good summary of the House Judiciary Dems' 50-p report on Trump's history as a violent sexual predator, including a well vetted, under-oath account from Beatrice Keul of how Trump raped her in an Atlantic City hotel room in 1993, after the pair were introduced to one another by Jeffrey Epstein.

There are only two explanations for the NYT's habit of presenting GOP operatives and donors as true swing voters: 1. Their reporters and editors are somehow incapable of running a simple Google searches, showing just a staggering level of journalistic incompetence 2. They want to the GOP to win

“[S]houldn’t have to be here” is what makes media acceptance of GOP tactics so outrageous. Half of Americans shouldn’t have to rely on dozens of lawsuits to establish what is plainly written into fed & state laws & backed by judicial precedent MAGA now targets for destruction. It ain’t “both sides.

Trump and Co. will try to steal the midterms. They're already trying. Gerrymandering, bad faith lawsuits, voter intimidation, and a whole lot of lies. But they don't have a genius secret plan. They're already doing whatever they can think of. And it's beatable. Shouldn't have to, but here we are.
