Party time in the '70s & '80s growing up in L.A. Six years in the Navy. Layoffs from Tech, retraining. 35 years in healthcare. Earthquakes. Two cardiac stents. Raising a family paycheck to paycheck. Reading lots of Harlan Ellison and Hunter Thompson. My suit of dark humor armor is a thick one.

Twice, so far, for me. I really don't think it's the last. When I was a little girl, I must have heard talk about breast cancer. I never told anyone, but I was plagued by fear of it for years. I just knew it would happen. I was diagnosed with metatastic breast cancer in 2016 at 63.

Sorry to hear that you are going through this but you WILL get beyond it. There will always be that niggling worry in the back of your mind that it will come back in some way but meanwhile F cancer and enjoy life

And if you’re at least Gen X or sooner, you miraculously survive every time you casually throw yourself out the window because cell phones took your baby sitting job.

This made me both laugh and cry. I spent 16 months caring for my late wife through stage 4 small cell lung cancer. We had enough time to accomplish some of her last wishes…a concert by her favorite singer and an Alaskan cruise. We would occasionally turn to each other and say "Thank you, cancer!"

More it's that a twisted sense of humor gets you through things that would kill you if you didn't have that humor.
