Hello what are the best weird (and preferably short) indie games this year? Looking for a game or two to boot up on my Switch or AYN Thor during a trip I'm taking

Blood Dungeon is a must play, from Messhof. Also Toem 2 is GREAT, and I highly recommend The Incident at Galley House (from the Roottrees team) for an excellent puzzle mystery.

The best shorter indies I played on my switch 2 this year are - DenshAttack (for pure arcade fun) - Opus: Prism Peak (for a narrative adventure to get in your feels) - Mina the Hollower (for gameplay is king vibes) - Deltarune Chapter 5 (need I say more?)

I've gotten most* of these running on the Thor, but if the Deck is also an option. - The Wide Open Sky is Running out of Catfish - Aerial_Knight's MrFreezy - KAZ - Forbidden Solitaire - Eternal Afternoon - Creature Kitchen - Mr. Sleepy Man Two around the ~10 hour mark - Love Eternal - Well Dweller

Agent 64: Spies Never Die is a phenomenal ode to Goldeneye/Perfect Dark. Levels are short but can grow in length if you play on harder difficulties.

Iron Nest: Heavy Turret Simulator is a really fun game that I've not heard anyone at KF talk about yet. You operate a giant artillery cannon by calculating enemy locations from intel and then set the artillery correctly and fire. Can't speak to it's overall length because I'm still early though.

My mini-metroidvania precision platformer you guys mentioned on KFGD is only 1.5 hours long :) very weird and full of farts. PROTOTYPE JUAN on Steam. Would play great on your AYN Thor bsky.app/profile/mart...

"We can get those [sales] numbers up" haha 😅 thanks 🙏@blessingjr.bsky.social & @gameovergreggy.bsky.social! I love the energy & appreciate the love and support from @kindafunnyvids.bsky.social. I'm getting emotional over here. 🥹 Kinda Funny has the best community! #gamedev #steam #indiegame #16bit

Mesmalie, Mermaid Mask, Raider Kid and the Ruby Chest, EMUUROM, Hermit and Pig, Sovereign Tower. to name a few

Cairn is my top pick for GOTY so far. I'd say that will keep you busy if you're into great puzzling and climbing mechanics. It's similar to Jusant except with a more grounded narrative.

I didn't particularly like the character they start you with, so I almost put it down. Once I unlocked another guy, I was hooked. The way they've combined climbing with traditional platforming broke my brain in a fabulous way.

I have one that's been getting huge updates this year but it came out last year, Look Outside. It's an earthbound style horror game that I highly recommend. This year he added more new endings, new encounters and quality of life updates but it's been great since launch On steam and only 10 bucks.

Looked through my list and these two Little Weirds jumped out at me: Demon Tides- fantastic indie platformer that can be picked at 5-10 minutes at a time. Black Jacket- Blackjack themed rogue game that eschews some of the depth of Balatro to replace it with a surprisingly compelling story.

Minishoot’ Adventures on the Switch 2 completely overlooked by so many. Its a legend of zelda shmup. Other good ones are ball x pit, moonlighter 2, and fast fusion.

The main ones i'm thinking of from this year have a lot of replay value or staying power so they aren't "short" (Torment Hexus, Titanium Court, Thousand Hells)...

Have you finished Titanium Court yet? Plays great on the Thor!

Hey um, there’s this game It’s called Titanium Court And it’s my favorite game I’ve played this year so far It’s such an incredible work that dissects our relationship with video games, how and why we treat them the way we do and what that does to the art.

Not necessarily short (both less than 20 hrs), but both People of Note and Kingdoms of the Dump are great RPGs that have solid stories and twists on combat to keep the player engaged for the full playthrough. Both played perfectly on the deck.

Emuurom is a "metroidbrania" puzzle platformer game where you crash land on a planet and have to scan everything around you to learn/navigate the map. Everything is Crab is an evolution-based action roguelike where you choose animal features to become the fittest you can and survive

I know you don’t do a lot of mobile stuff but Poinpy is maybe one of the best controlled touch screen games since angry birds. Very bite sized.

Running the Steam version of Vampire Crawlers on my Thor was a great experience.

Love Eternal, 3-4 hour precision platform crossed with psychological horror. Some of the platforming is quite hard so it could be longer or shorter depending on how much you do or don’t get stuck.
