When the media calls Bluesky a “liberal” platform they are missing the point. It’s not about politics. It’s about decency. Putting this into a left/right dichotomy is just further normalizing the behavior of deranged MAGA trolls.

To that end, this platform is welcoming to folks across the political spectrum—and to people who are not political at all. Athletes, musicians, artists, authors, government officials, etc—all are welcome. Just follow the golden rule: don’t be a d*ck.

You mean like how Meidas trashed Joe and Mika today for attempting to provide coverage of a president (even if we hate him)? I was severely disappointed in what was an insanely deliberate attack on MainStream media. It sure felt like you were growing your brand and not just doing what is right.

To THAT end, I highly recommend users look through the feeds. There are art feeds, science feeds, book feeds, etc. We can talk about a lot of things that have nothing to do with politics. We just don't want to be taunted while we do it.

Who tf cares what the media is saying? Liberals are always on the defensive - fuck that we need to own it. I’m thrilled seeing like minded people on here, it gives me hope that we’ll make it through these next 4 yrs.

I’m totally cool having respectful discussion based on facts. What’s not cool are the trolls and cultists who form their own “facts” based on what they want them to be, demean anyone who is different than them and resort to name calling to, I guess, make themselves feel better.

Not being a dick is important. Start no shit, but end any that comes your way - blocking is effective and worthwhile when asshats are encountered.

See that's what I have always said. When I used to disagree on Twitter, it never turned into a horror match. We would give our opinions. Even one of us would state we were wrong or at an impasse. Simple as that. Now it has turned into an insane asylum.

So say anything you want but don’t disagree? I don’t understand the point of this site. It’s a great place to recharge our political batteries but there seems to be a subtle pushback on having actual conversations where we might disagree.

The site is simple if you stop looking at it as a political tools (the same way no one looks at instagram, facebook or LinkedIn as political platforms). It is an open source platform that allows you to curate your own feed based on your interest instead of having 1 algorithm imposed on you.

What I am looking for is a place to find people who want a better world, and make plans that help people stay safe and build a healthier future. Not another place to argue. I am a builder, not a debater. But that’s just me? 🤷‍♀️

Sorry but no. Just no. This is the slippery slope that has led us here. Civil disagreement is the way we round down the corners and avoid their escalation into world-threatening events. We MUST be open to reasonable and rational debate. It’s the most fundamental liberal principle.

We moved here because there was no honest discourse to be had on Twitter or Facebook. They are designed to stir up negative discourse with people refusing to be genuine with one another. You can spread ideas and opinions over the internet, but you can't change someone else's once they're sure of it.

Continuing on. Being 3RD Party, I expect to have several disagreements with some people here. Especially if they start spouting the 3 LIES about voting 3rd Party. 1: Wasted Vote. 2: Vote for "other" Guy. 3: THIS Election too Important.* *3=Boy Who Cried Wolf. Even so, I'll try to keep it civil. 🙂

As my handle suggests, I am a 3RD PARTY Member and Voter. Ever since I nearly gave my Republican parents Heart Attacks by Registering with a 3RD Party, I have fought diligently against the 2 EVILS SYSTEM. While I did vote for Harris this time, I haven't given up the fight yet. Nor should the Left.

This is 100% right. In a normal time with normal politics, I tend to lean a little right. But there is no right and left anymore. There’s insanity and reality. I choose reality. If that means voting for liberals I don’t always agree with, that’s OK with me.

I've noticed that as well. I felt so bad for Russell Moore when he posted that he would be on Bluesky and was verbally attacked on that post by so many magas, rabidly and cruelly. And these are people who call themselves Christ followers. And then they disparage the site as well. Sad!

It's pretty simple. Twitter has become a place where you can say what you won't say in public from fear of retaliation. You say that at work. You're fired. At school, suspended. In public places, ass kicking. In your family, uninvited. Twitter....no problems. Bluesky is like in real life.

It's also about boundaries, no different than those we that we have IRL. Twitter has none, it's like a pub at 3am in small town Alabama, and that not where most people wanna have meaningful conversations.

That's spot on, Brett. I suspect I'd disagree with the politics of many of your supporters, for instance, yet we all seem to agree on the absolute indecency we see before us. Still our media portrays the obscene as an equal option. 😧

As Jessiah from Pondering Politics says in every video - Democrats are the morally superior party. If they want to call our decency “liberal” I’ll take that as a huge W.

I’m perfectly fine being on a platform that isn’t polluted with ignorant bigots and cousin fuckers. I want nothing to do w those people as they are the dregs. Call me as liberal as you want, I look down on those people and I think it’s acceptable to hold them to account.

Truth and respect for others aren’t ideals that are exclusive to liberals. But they are certainly the antithesis of MAGA ideology which is epitomized by “they’re eating the pets.” There’s no reason why conservative viewpoints have to be based on lies and disrespect.

I’m ignoring the gaslighting and labels. I don’t care what they think of us, they don’t care about our lives. The right needs every safe space there is—we just want discourse and dialogue.

109% agree and it's clarification of the desire to demean and control the narrative. Exactly what is their definition of liberal? From what I know, it's the will to respect or accept behavior or opinions different from yours or simply being open to new ideas. We know the MAGA cult can't do that.

No one should hate liberal spaces. We stand for freedom. "Liberal can be traced back to the Latin word liber (meaning “free”), which is also the root of liberty ("the quality or state of being free") and libertine ("one leading a dissolute life")." Merriam-Webster Dictionary.

Trumpistains politicize everything in order to weaponize it. Trump's skill set is limited, so this, lies & stochastic terrorism is about all he has. I just want to know who really thinks this election was legitimate?

Absolutely. But we all know that the media's hot to restart their inane game of pitting sides against each other. It makes for better ratings and readership I guess. Let's not fall into it ever again.

Kinda crazy being a decent open minded person, and not a xenophobic, misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic bigot is considered a negative thing by the MSM media. Root of progressive is progressus meaning to go forward. Root of Liberal is liber meaning free or independent.

We need to stop referring to NBC, CBS, ABC, NY Times et al as 'news media'. They are all light flavors of the right wing propaganda machine. They are afraid to report the truth because maga won't like it.

It's a platform anyone can join. I refuse to engage with MAGAts and block them. Why engage/debate with ignorant trolls? I enjoy a good debate, but not with some uneducated, incel, hate filled, misogynist gravy seal, playing keyboard warrior from his mom's basement. Ignoring them works. They hate it.

This is the platform of America, or what it should be, not a tool of divisiveness for the sake of being divisive. Yes, I block “the base”, I’ve heard it all, I work w/ men & women who comprise “the base”, there’s no reasoning. So, here we are, tryin to find a semblance of peace & preparedness

That’s the whole point about maga, they have no decency and are feeling especially now, lawless. Which some of the cabinet picks are just disgusting. But he has been disgustingly abhorrent for years as a man. Now he gets a second chance at being more disgusting.

I was hanging out on Facebook and when the troll BS started I had that old sinking feeling. Not going through that ever again. People express themselves here more whether it’s art or political views because they aren’t getting pounced on by assholes.

The aggression on X is off the charts. I deleted the app for good. If anyone has seen the 2005 movie Serenity, the RW attack gang there seems a lot like the rabid Reavers community just hell bent on ripping everything and everyone apart.

The mass X exodus is just the beginning. If they miss what is going on because they call it the left soon they will find that everyone other social network has gone the way of Myspace. Viva the Peoples non-profit open source communications!!! The AP Protocol must be protected first and foremost!

People forget that social media can be more than just political hot takes. You couldn’t talk about your interests at the other place without some MAGA chud making it weird. People seem a little more confident to share more without unwarranted comments coming back and that’s a great thing.

Yep. I left because Twitter became a very toxic place. You couldn't comment or post without the risk of some obnoxious comment that had zero substance and was only intended to troll or "own" someone. I very much like sports and I would use it to get highlights or updates, but it became unbearable.
