The real-time reporting of South Korea today was far easier to follow along on Bluesky than X. It’s these moments that define these platforms. Bluesky really does have the juice.

It's sad. I never finished 9th grade and feel genius compared to these people. Educated system is sooo behind and just pass people through unfortunately. Never stop educating yourselves man. You don't need money, you need a library or Google access to college lectures . But news and Bible no lol

Cool nickname (well ... UN-cool, in fact ... but clever on their part). Here I am with my daughter in Paju near the border with the DPRK, a few years ago. She does set design for Korean films. Born there, college here, voted absentee for our wonderful and diligent VP.

Right?! I love the name, but wish it didn’t exist. Great pic! My kids live in Sacheon, working in the aerospace industry, and they also both absentee voted for Harris. The picture is from October when the whole family visited and we went to the festival in Jinju.

I sadly disagree. Perhaps I am not following the right actual news hubs on Blue yet. I see lots of helpful factual news from the BBC and the like on X, yet I refuse to read armchair quarterback’s opinions on either site before I understand the facts of the event b/c they have not been helpful re SK.

Not to take anything away from this, but the real (not serious but practical) test is when an earthquake hits in CA. Can I find an instant flood of "quake!" posts from various corners of Los Angeles as we wait for USGS to tell us how intense it really was?

Right?! My hubbie came home snd thought that Marshall law was still in place. He was really upset. I told him I looked on here and that parliament had repealed the action. He was so relieved. Why torture yourself trying to find the truth? It’s right here.

Ground news is an app I've been using that helps to keeps me somewhat in the loop and they try and list the owners and biases of the articles they present on the app. I was getting notifications all day at work

The documentation of it on BlueSky reminds me of how Twitter was during the Arab Spring. That was a moment which was truly indicative of how social media had seismically shifted communication & created a democratization within publishing. Black Lives Matter, Hurricane Harvey, the Syrian Civil War—

Deleted X 6 months ago because I despise Elon Musk and think he’s one of the biggest losers in the history of humanity. Only discovered bluesky recently. Very nice to have an alternative.

Yep, call it flying or taking flight, whatever. I liked that depending upon the importance of something, I could tweet and retweet certain hashtags in order to get new stories to critical mass. The more urgent the issue, the more I liked and reposted and created new posts. It used to matter.

It's not just South Korea. Both MSNBC and CNN are not reporting on trumps threats, ultimatums and shenanigans with our allies. No wonder legacy media is losing. But maybe I am watching less news these days.

I'm not especially interested in trading one corporate overlord for another. I'm tired of algorithms deciding what I'd like.

X’s problem is that it actively damaged people’s ability to do real time journalism on it - one of the things it was actually really useful for before. They started caring less about producing value for the users and more about producing value for the owner’s ego.

Better yet was the live video showing the South Korean drama available from online AlJazeera English #SouthKorea #MartialLaw
