There's a simpler solution. Your head goes in forwards, but gets stuck backwards, right? So, turn to face the bars... For a small child, lift, rotate so they are looking up, then set them down (if possible) and have them lean forward into the bars, face first... the way they went in. No FDNY needed.

William Tecumseh Sherman playground on Amsterdam and 77th. Have spent many many hours there. The amazing firefighters helping are from the 77th Engine/25th Hook and Ladder across the street

The sad thing for that child is that 20 years ago, it would have been just an embarrassing story. Now it’s a lifelong embarrassing video.

Oh 20 years ago it was definitely cell phone video. 40 years ago my mom would have hauled out the giant VHS recorder before she called the for department.

Happened to my wife on their front porch steps. Family spent an hour trying to get her head out. Her dad finally asked her how she got her head in there in the first place. She said “Like this” and stepped through the bars with her body, freeing herself.

I'm having the worst day at work, and this made me burst out laughing. Kids will make you lose your minds sometimes. Not her like, "Oh yeah, you just get in and out like this . . ."

Just leave him there as a warning to other kids. Like feed him and stuff but when he whines…”Sorry Kevin, you live here now.”

Ok, sigh, 1st grade,… the building had vertical pipes supporting an awning over a walkway where we lined up for the school bus, every few yards a downspout was attached to the supports leaving a couple of inches between the 2 pipes. Just enough for me to slip my hand between. When I folded my arm

My elbow could not fit between the 2 pipes, I was trapped. a teacher got the maintenance staff to help, they attempted to pry the pipes apart with no success, still trapped and fearful I’d be there overnight if I missed the bus. This went on for what seemed an eternity,…

another adult, probably a teacher arrived, and said “straighten your arm”, which then easily fit through the pipes. true story (See also Monkey trap.)

I did this at Disneyland when I was 3. I have no memory of it. So when my mom gave this story to someone doing a 'seance' at a church thing I didn't respond with "oh, that's me"!

Or perhaps it's a goat who transformed into a child after getting its head stuck. Because that's the kind of situation goats love to get themselves into.
