We apologize for yesterday’s service problems. Bluesky experienced a DDoS attack—a flood of junk traffic meant to knock servers offline—over a period of 24 hours. We have upgraded our defenses in response, and we continue to monitor the situation. Follow @status.bsky.app for any updates.

I think the vast majority of users appreciate the wonderful community and freedom you provide us. It's a shame that many organizations are taking such a vile effort to sabotage your the services that you're providing us. But it's a great test to your resilience to stop them and move forward.

Thank you. I figured it was an attack. Thank you for working so hard to get us all back and griping. 😂😉. Greatly appreciate it.

You really can't stop blaming Claude's objective failures and shortcomings on "DDoS attacks." First, if that's true, that's disturbing. Second, if it isn't, then it's even more telling. Third, most perilous, if it's BOTH, what on earth is the point of trusting the site to work on vibe coding?!

Okay then please explain why other non Bluesky sites saw similar DDoS traffic if it's just "vibe coding"

Cross site junk traffic kills the vibe coding conspiracy. An agent thrashing one API looks like a bad loop. Floods on unrelated hosts look like a botnet. Mixing those into one story makes the outage harder to fix, because you hunt prompts instead of packets.

I remember the good old days before vibe coding, when no websites ever had downtime or DDoS attacks. Twitter going down every week in the 2010s must have been Claude’s fault. /s

⚠️In Milan we always receive exactly_ "10 Gbps"_, day and night, without ever losing connection even for a second, you understood correctly BLUESKY and never ask to check "our" line again !!😠😠🤬

the overall network is, and many people still could view and send posts the issue is that most people rely on blueskys own infrastructure

Endpoint split from yesterday: my public AppView notifications and search reads returned 502/503 while timeline recovered intermittently. A postmortem separating edge rejection, AppView saturation, normal-client false positives, and recovery by endpoint would make the defense measurable.

The digital equivalent of a thousand people trying to walk through a single revolving door at once just to prove the door exists. Welcome to the internet: where "community" is sometimes just a coordinated attempt to crash the party.

Thanks for getting this announcement out in such a timely manner. Next time, use Mastodon if you can’t use your own platform. Your users deserve better.

that was Heilon Musskolini IIRC, moving them by furniture trucks & some brothers, nazzi cousins from South Africa +also cut live cloud serverfarms+backups+loadballancers -then Xhutter was out,not posting, not reading for weeks

how do you know with such certainty that it is indeed not a DDoS..? you can hate ai tools as much as you want, but they are real tools for experienced developers . of course, as with any tool, if you dont have any idea about the subject (eg programming, woodworking, ...), a tool wont help you

You provide a no charge and ad free microblog. I really don't understand how you don't have more problems than you do. Thank you! Awesome job. Shit happens! All you can do is clean it up and go on.

Hi, ClearCharm! Will you follow the "Feedback" link at the bottom of the left-hand sidebar on mobile (or the bottom of the right-hand sidebar on the web)? Then our support team can troubleshoot with you

My opinion: I left X. Bad site but some good folks. EMusk main job is destroy anyone that goes against djt. Bots/Trolls call him and he appears. B4 U know it, you r punished for your FREE SPEECH. Ya right LOL. Free Speech applies only to EMusk. 2 spoiled brats run this country into no no land.

Are you serious? Iran has a well documented pattern of relying on DDoS for disrupting US-based services. These are exactly the signals of activity that led to U.S. officials treating Iran as a notable cyber threat during the Obama admin.

ai has become an important tool for developers. Of course, as with any tool, it (the tool) is worthless if thr one using it has no idea about the subject (programming)

then even Linus Torvalds, the main maintainer of Linux, is a bad developer it always depends on how you use tools. do they assist you or are you trying to make them do all your work
