Agriculture executives, farm industry officials and economists tell CNN that if Trump keeps his deportation promises, groceries will get more expensive — perhaps much more expensive.

Trump’s mass deportations could make matters worse | CNN BusinessAmericans are fed up with high grocery store bills and they’re hoping President-elect Donald Trump will bring relief. Yet one of Trump’s central campaign promises could exacerbate sticker shock at the...

Yesterday, I traveled nearly 400 miles across rural WI making deliveries to friends & family in small towns Shocked to see the number of family farms w/parked "For Sale" signs on cars, trucks & farm equipment PROOF that Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-WI) did NOT help farmers with lower fuel/fertilizer prices

So CNN, you knew this weeks ago and longer, but you chose to not amplify a lot of the things you didn’t push back when you interviewed the maggot representatives so don’t come stating it now after little too late

Trump is individually the US’s version of the UK’s Brexit. Where the UK decided to break ties with its historic neighbours and allies in an unprecedented ridiculous moment of self harm. The US voted in a specimen that actually told the electorate he was going to do the same damage! 😶

50% of the US fruit and veg comes from California and paying $26+ an hour they are struggling to get workers. Hundreds of acres go rot because nobody available to pick the produce. Deport those workers and watch what happens, empty store shelves.

Hope it will be hyperinflation and get taste of conartist, dumb people deserve to face consequence of own actions first hand to shake up his tiny brain until he is aware that he got conned all along.

USA is craving for many immigrants on many areas from doctors, nurses and medicine staff to many other having insufficient workers! So, deportation issue must not be a mass move targeting all possible immigrants to fill the blanks on those NATIONAL needs! Green Card Lottery ban was such a disaster!

Vegetable and fruit grown in blue states like California that support immigration would get more expensive. Most farms now are megafarms with automation at least in the Midwest. I see meat and egg prices skyrocketing. Asia retaliatory tariffs should offset some meat demand as overseas sales fall. 🤔

I keep saying it. People still giving grace saying “oh for eggs to be cheaper you sold out your fellow Americans….” No, not even for that. Things will get MORE expensive. It’s not just some horrible-but-beneficial thing that’s being promised, it’s horror with no offsetting benefit whatsoever

Cover what he did the first time, returning worker exemption was removed for H2B so it went from 135,000 visas to 65,000. Then he used Wage N Hour audits to fine businesses right below the cost a lawyer so they would pay it and move on.

Gosh, this comes as an enormous surprise, nearly two weeks after election day. If only there had been, say, more media focus on the stakes of the election BEFORE election day, including predictable consequences of policy proposals, maybe there would have been more informed voting. Darn it all.

Between mass deportation of those that pick the fruit and vegetable and his upcoming tariffs on everything imported to the U.S., expect to see prices on some things possibly double, maybe even triple in price. Came across this post and thought i would borrow it and share it.

Majority of fruits, vegetables and nuts are from CA. Let’s stop sending them to RED States and let them pay the high prices fruits and veggies from Mexico, with the tariffs. Let them feel the pain! FAFO is great 👍🏼

Its sad cuz the # 1 issue that was on every voter’s list was cost of living/inflation. My guess, after 4 years, everything’s going to cost more. Question is: will either party make it their priority.. i have my doubts.

CNN and the so called 'legacy media's are gone. Trump called them fake news media. In 2024 they added hate speech and disinformation to their portfolios. Musk should buy them and turn them to pizza and chips makers. They will be more beneficial to Americans and the economy./1

After the election, they all look wretched, crushed, broken, shame- filled and pitiable on screen as they struggle to "unburden what was and what would be". Body language and appearance don't lie.😄/2

The conclusion about how mass deportations will affect prices and the availability of services doesn’t require a PhD to figure out. Unless there’s a corresponding reform of immigration laws, who’s going to do the work? Shortages will create higher prices for those who’re least able to afford it.

I hope I'm right. But if I'm not I'm deeply saddened by US citizens allowing people who are looking for a better life to be treated like this. I'm not talking about those who really are patently criminal but it appears that most immigrants are very law abiding.

Amazing how CNN is doing all of these stories about the impact of the Trump candidacy AFTER the election. Before the election, CNN couldn’t be bothered to talk about impact of policies; they were too focused on the Trump drama.

Story has probably been written for a month... Reporter reported, editor edited. Then "someone" spiked it, right? Release it now, when it will have no impact. Start your own media outlet: if it's honest and accurate the world will beat a path to your door. Your move, "Journalists".

GOP voters will reap what they sow. Installing a functionally illiterate tantruming toddler in the WH for a 2nd time to wreak havoc across the globe. To put RFK, a RECOVERING ADDICT, in charge of anything is a fool's game. Get all vaccines updated, folks. It's going to get SCARY real fast.

Was this a mystery? Migrant farm workers do back breaking labor for cheap wages that most Americans won’t do. To get that same work done, if it’s even possible, farmers would have to raise wages, provide benefits and improve working conditions. Where did you think those costs would be passed?

Whether or not this is true, food producers, wholesalers, and retailers will use it as an excuse to artificially inflate prices… just like they’ve been doing since the pandemic.

This is why my greatest fear is that Trump will greatly expand prison labor and use people apprehended during his mass deportation raids who are currently awaiting their deportation trial. The same people will be working those fields as slaves if Trump has his way.

Seriously CNN? You can f*** all the way off. You report this NOW and didn't bother to do so when it freaking mattered. MSMs job was to hold the powerful to account because little guys can't do so as easily. You failed. I won't shed a tear if Trump ends you.

I hope he does, so we can take on the job they're doing. It's just sarcasm; Americans won't do it, which will lead to extremely high prices. So, I really hope he does, so we can learn a lesson or two.

Maybe y'all should've reported on this BEFORE the election, rather than whining about where Kamala's plans were (when if you took 2 seconds to look at her site, you'd have seen them) Turning into FOX Lite isn't making us want to watch you. You need to stop hiring GOP surrogates & no Dem surrogates
